FP Super 99 - 8.1 @ 176MPH - Wins "King Of The Streets"
Its been awhile since I've updated you guys on what the Red Demon has been up to........... We've been busy working with Robert and Micheal @ FP on their new line of Super Turbochargers. After our turbo review (6766 vs. 3794), Forced Performance seemed even more motivated to bring the community the latest in technology.
We ran the Super 94 earlier this year with great success!!!
We brought the Red Demon to a Standing 1/2 mile event here in Illinois in June. After slowly raising the boost run after run, we ended up with a best pass of 213 mph (4 MPH away from the all time record). We made a total of (6) 200mph+ 1/2 mile runs that weekend, which shows how reliable our BP motors are and how solid the Red Demon has become.
Maintained with new bearings and rings every winter, this motor has been in the car for 3+ years, still running in the car now, and is the same motor we will run for the rest of the season and probably next year too.
That brings us to last weekend........ Fitted with a brand new FP Super 99, we went out to test the car in preparation for the KOTS (King Of The Streets) event that weekend. This is a street racing style event here in Chicago, which means its clocks off and an instant green tree. We went to the track 2 days before the event just to make sure the Demon was dialed in and ready to go. We were not looking to push the car at all. The Red Demon unexpectedly went 8.18 and trapped 176 MPH!! With a couple clean passes under our belt, we heading home feelling more confident then ever and ready for the event.
The class we ran at KOTS was the "Gangster" class. The only rules where - 26" or smaller tire; no wheelie bars; stock style suspension, so anything else goes. We were the only import in the class but all the other drivers/teams were friendly and welcomed us. Most of the cars in the class where V8's with 1 or more power adders, and all where equipped with trans brakes. We ended up going round after round, and I was having the time of my life bangin gears right next to all the auto cars.
We took the win in an extra close final race that was won by only 1-2 car lengths. Overall this year has been the most fulfilling racing season for me and definitely the most fun by far!!!!!!
With a new personal best and a event win right behind us, you might think its time to let the Red Demon rest, but that's not going to happen.
With the recent success, I'm more motivated then ever and I've got some new goals for the remainder of the 2013 season - 8.0 in the 1/4 and a 180 MPH trap speed. With a couple key changes and some more boost, I can't wait to bring the Demon back out in a couple weeks!
Building, tuning, and driving my car is great, but I get the most satisfaction from watching my customers tear it up. Watching customers like Jason piloting Mr Boost, and Joey bangin gears in the Junk Box, is what I do this for. It's been fun making my car fast, but I'm ready to make someone's car even faster....... I'm just waiting for the opportunity.
