it was a pretty ok night, what you have to understand is that car and driver, and all those magazines that give us the times they had, also have pro drivers driving them, they dont care about the car and they do it probably 50 or so times, then you have to realize they do all those tests at sea level, which yields faster times. im not at sea level 3075 ft. i find 16.3 to be an alright time for right now. im proud of it. other bumble bee club hondas could not catch me. so dont worry about it that much. i figure when i go next time ill drop another .2 secs. anyways just thought id let you guys know

Well I'm in Sacramento CA which is considered "sea level" or damn close. I'm taking the RA to the track this next Wednesday and I too have the CAI installed, exhaust, B&M short shifter as well. I'll see what I can get my RA to run. And we'll go from there

that's not bad, if u consider the elevation he's at...for example, at LACR, the track down by me...people run .5 seconds higher than what they should (corrected due to elevation that is). So depending on the location, people will have slower times.

I would expect w/ higher octane gas, sea level, and the cai and exhaust installed - notwithstanding the short shift - you should be able to get mid 15's if your a fairly good driver and have had some track exp.

I mean think about it guys its pretty simple math. My RSX (non type s) w/ SRI, axle back, short shift and high octane gass will do that and the type S w/ that will be in the 14's. The cars weigh the same as well....and have similar wheelbase and track. I suppose the only other difference is the RA does (I'd think) have a higher drag coefficient.

The higher octane gas wont make a difference in a near stock engine. The car will be faster with the lower elevation. But with that said, I thought you might have done better.

That is actually a fairly respectable time when you consider he is barely broken in and at higher elevation.

To all that aren't in the know:

higher elevation = less air pressure
less air pressure = less air for the engine
less air for the engine = less performance

Dem1K - Yes, I've raced a type s (a friend of mine had one). In a quarter mile its about a half second faster (about a half car length)...in and around town though its pretty even...from 0-30mph though a base rsx would have the edge.

But anyways, good to hear about the first run. I'm sure that can be improved upon w/ a better launch. Also, better tires too I'm sure would help.
