Exclamation 15.610

Took my car to the track tonight. My very first run ever in the 04 RA was a 15.610 I peeled out all of first gear because I launched at to high of an RPM. My second run I did a kickass launch but grinded the **** out of second and ended up with a 15.752 My third run I again grinded the **** out of second and I got a 15.721 I don't understand. Why the hell am I grinding second? I don't grind any other gears but for some reason it won't go into second for me? My dial in was a 15.2 and I could've easily been running low 15's but I kept grinding gears. Anyways, dumbass me peeled out in the parking lot after my 3rd run and they saw me and kicked me out and said not to come back. ****ty.

So 3 runs and I got a 15.610 I was actually pretty happy because the other RA guy said he ran a 16.3. I wish I had a few more shots at it I can swear I'll be in the low 15's next time I go out there. IF I CAN GET SECOND TO STOP GRINDING.

The funny thing is the two runs that I got a 15.7 my 60 ft times were a 2.379 and a 2.323 with the 1/4 times being a 15.785 and a 15.749

My fastest run my 60 foot time was a 2.473 That's because I peeled out all first gear. If I can get a good 60 without grinding second gear I should be in the lower 15's with ease. My friend who has a OZ said he had the same problem with his OZ when it comes to shifting quickly into second. He said instead of shifting straight back I need to shift diagonally towards me and it will go into second much better. Hopefully that's my issue. I'll practice this week and go back next week and see if I can get a lower 15. Until then, Go

I was told I'm the first RA to be at that speedway since the car has been released. 15.6 is acceptable. Still beat all the bumblebees unless they were turbo

I used to have that problem all the time in my old Del Sol. I just had to not quite rev it as high in first gear and I had to be really deliberate and almost forceful pushing into second gear. I think also, when you're trying to shift quick, you tend not to push the clutch in as far which dosen't help things. I'm not the expert, but I had the same trouble in my old car. Once I break my engine in, I'll try all out accelerating. I've done it before but I don't think I've missed second, though I have missed gears before (third, I think).

Yeah my guess is you're right. I was also thinking that when I'm going as fast as I can I tend to let up off the clutch just slightly before the car is fully in second and that's what causes it to grind. That and I rev up to like 6.6 to 6.7 when our cap is 6.5 That's probably the other issue. Because in all other gears I do just fine.

I am constantly grinding in 2nd gear as well....And it happens when I rev up and redline first......WHY WHY WHY.....I'm thinking of installing a shift light to help dial in optimal shifting....

Yeah even after installing the B&M shifter I do it. I think it is infact because I bring it all the way to redline and in first for some LAME REASON it wants me to shift below it and not at it.
All I know is that for whatever reason that's the reason I didn't run a 15.4 or better.

If they told you not to come back then you might have a lifetime ban. To be honest, I can't blame them: They offer you 3/4 mile of track where you can do the biggest, smokiest, burnout imaginable and drive as fast as possible in the safest possible environment and you go and peel out in the car park? Defies comprehension.

I was being stupid, no doubt about that. I did without thinking. I tend to do that alot
How will they know my car? Do they write down plate #'s or something?

Eh, I was young & stupid once. In fact, I don't think I grew out of the latter. It's quite possible they wrote down your number which they can match to whatever info was on your tech card. It's also quite possible they wrote down nothing at all. I'd almost put money on them not writing down anything at all. If they did ban you though, and do have your info, then ask to see the manager or owner face to face and just suck *** as best you can .

well all the tech card had on it was my make and model with my name and last name. I could have faked my name easily. They don't ask to see a license or anything. Next time I go there I could say my names Osama Deldollacostanollavich

i take it this was at sacramento raceway...I like that track there..they seem to be .2 or so seconds faster than Infineon in Napa..I'm curious to see what you'd get if you ever run at Infineon..you might have to go there if they don't let ya back at Sac Raceway..lol
