12.38@111... Getting better

Took my car to the track this Wednesday. It was 85* and humid as hell when I got there but it cooled down later on in the evening. Previous best last year was 12.46@108. The only thing different this year is I swapped out the BC272s for some Kelford 272s.

Mods that matter:
Evo 9 20G, 26 psi with MBC
Injen intake and piping
AMS intercooler
Forge bypass valve (HKS SSQV last year)
Megan Racing tubular manifold
Megan Racing o2 housing wastegate dump
Kelford 272 cams and springs
Water/Meth injection, low meth %
Denso 720s
Walbro 255
ACT XTSS clutch
3" turbo back exhaust with test pipe

I was happy with a 12.38 my last run of the night, and finally breaking the 110 trap. Plan for the rest of the year is, touch up the tune (10.9-10.5 AFR at midrange in 4th), try for a better pass, keep it in one piece for the shootout, then if all goes well ill be installing an FP black turbo come October. Here's hoping for 11s next season.

Nice job I know the feeling, this past nov. I took my evo for a late track day, was about 75 outside best i did with only 385 whp was 12.24 @ 118 I believe it was. Had traction problems all day being street tires and no track prep. Its is a good feeling for sure. Now I am having the car built and looking for some mid 10s.

118 that's good for like mid 11s or so isn't it? I've seen so many posts of people with stock turbo and less mods than me running faster times but I can't squeeze any more out of er. 123k on the stock engine and full weight, spare tire and all

Yeah I should have done better but no traction and no track prep but I was cutting 1.8 and 2.0s. I just couldn't get it off the line even with 20 psi tire pressures.

Just out of curiosity what are your usual 60 ft times? 2 step and boost leaving the line? With a 6200 2 step I'm leaving with like 12-15 psi, but it spools to 25 shortly after I launch. I'm usually between 1.72-1.85 on the 60. I hear that's good *shrug*

I was only building 10 lbs off the line. Normally with track prep I was doing 1.7 to 1.8 60 foots which aren't great but I feel with street tires its not to bad. I was only running 20 psi on the car at the time. I did everything could to not burn the tires off. My 2 step was around 6500 then I dropped it down to 6 and that was the best I could do. So yeah your in the ball park, I think with more practice and getting the clutch out right and not burning the tires off you will be fine.

Forgot to ask, how does the time look for my mods? I see a lot of people that have either stock cams or stock turbo still running faster than mine, but they could also have a hell of a tune. Should I be going faster with these mods or is that a decent time for what it is?

I would say time is about right for mods. Only thing I see that I would change is the low meth content. Idk what jet you run but I use to run a #14 Jet when I ran meth. I ran as much as I could with a 50/50 mix and made some decent power with it. Only other thing id change but remind you this is me is the Injen stuff. Ic pipes are way long and they are a ***** to put back on once they are off. But that's just me. Other wise a good tune and your right on track. I think you can squeeze more out of it and your time with a better 60 foot as well. I know that's where I suffered. I mean I have a much larger turbo and your keeping up with what I ran lol.

The only reason I was running a low meth content was because I was already in the mid 10 AFRs and didn't want to add more fuel to it. After a lot of reading I also gathered water itself is a good anti-detonant and the kit was on my car when I got it so I figured why not. No idea what jet it is though.

Also you aren't the first to tell me to lose the Injen piping. I hear they are restrictive but they also came on the car and it has to be better than the stock rubber stuff. Plan is to get an STM small battery kit and short route upper pipe this winter

Unless it is a track car I would forget about the small batterys they are garbage. I have an odyssey 960 battery with a jmf trey. Works well even in the winter and your not having to charge it every other day either. And yes the injen stuff is restrictive but I kinda figured it came with the car, but it sounds like you have a pretty good plan going. If you need any help let me know I would be more then happy to talk parts and setups with your anytime.
