Poor performance

Not happy with drag racing results. I'm, sure my driving could get better, it was only my 2nd time drag racing last night. But after about 2 grand in mods; 3" perrin tuboback, HKS evc V boost controller, walbro fuel pump, K & N air filter, and custom ECU tuning, my best time was 13.4 @ 103.55mph. Had a 1.90 60', not great, but not too bad. Also ran higher octane and boost. WTF. Is something wrong with my car? THat doesn't even equal published stock times. Figured I should be in the 12's and much higher trap speed.

Your mph is 3 mph faster than stock, so you have experienced some gains. Could you describe what you mean by "custom ECU tuning."

What is your shifting points (rpms)? You should be in the 12's for sure. When I was running a setup like yours I ran a second time to the track i pushed a 13.1 at 106 with a 2.6 60ft!!!! Yes I got a evo LOL Also I would also like to know your custom ecu tuning. What boost where you running? 1.9 60ft aint bad but something else is messing something up. Also with your custom ecu tuning what was your final O2 reading?

Weather conditions? Height in relation to sea level? Until we know those facts then there's no sure fire way to tell.

Thanks for replies. ECU was dynoflashed. Shift points 7000 rpms(+). Gonna try shifting earlier, around 6500 next time. Cool night, Sea level probably around 500" above Sea level.

Cool night - sea level --> you'd think that would be all good stuff.

Something is messed up, I think that's slow. Some people are running low 14's with a 95mph trap stock, so different tracks just result in different results.

Did you ever run stock at the track for a comparison?
What were other cars running that night? Did you ask if the track was slow??

Unfortunately, never took it out to the raceway stock. I'm just wondering if there is some sort of boost or exhaust leak. actually, the car feels pretty strong and pulls hard. There were a coupleof DSM, eagle and talons, lightly modded running 14's, but thats not a fair comparison.

If it makes you feel any better I ran a 13.0 @ 105 with catless turbo back, hks rs intake, fuel pump, boost control at 21.5psi, and dynoflash

500"? That's what, about 42'? Just messing. What part of the country are you located in and what track do you run at? Your times are really off and it might help if we had comparisons of other cars on the same track. I run at sea level and hit 13.5 @ 100 on a 2.0 60' bone stock (it was cold). After thru-the-mail DynoFlash & MBC @ 20PSI I ran 13.1 @ 101 blowing the spark out in 4th. If you post your location & track then somebody else who frequents the place might be able to pipe up regarding how fast/slow the track is.

Cordova Raceway, Cordova, IL, northwest Illinois about 170 miles west of Chicago. I'm new to it but the dragstrip scene was fun, and I'd like to represent Evo's better, particularily modded ones. The nopi race wars is happening here in June, it 'd be kinda cool to participate, but not with a slow evo.

One last thought, my tires are definitely nearing the end of there life cycle. Plus if I knock a couple tenths of 60', and run some of that higher octane race fuel, maybe 12's.

Was the car tuned by Dynoflush or was it a mail flash. Probably makes a big difference. If it was dynotuned or street tuned that is a lil slow. I would expect 106mph traps with a custom tune on 93- 94 octane. Maybe you had a bad tank of gas. Send it back(ecu) to Al and have him reflash it to a more aggresive tune. Or wait for Vishnu/Shiv to venture out your way and get your car in the mid 12s.

It has always seemed that there are alot of differences in between stock evos. I ran a 13.5 stock, but i saw a guy who could not break 14 the same night. That is the only thing that seems to make sense somtimes.
