Dissapointed with stock evo timeslip.

I just got back from the dragstrip and my best run was as follows: (car is bone stock)

R/T ... .327
60' ... 2.194
330 ... 6.226
1/8 ... 9.567
MPH ... 75.10
1000 ... 12.425
1/4 ... 14.838
MPH ... 94.40

Now this is my first AWD car and I was not really getting into it to much. That run was was launched at about 4000RPM. But my E/T was only about 95mph through 4 consecutive runs. I thought evos were supposed to trap like 101-102mph stock? What's the deal? I figure I should be at least trapping around those speeds even if my E/T is crappy. The other thing was the Temperature was 85*F and the humidity was 84% and the barometric pressure was 28.94. Somebody please tell me that when it gets cooler and dryer this car will run the speeds at which all the magazines say they are capable of. Thanks.

Your 60' sucks- you aren't launching right. The car is bogging off the line which significantly slows you down. Also, it looks like you aren't shifting fast enough. The lowest I ever trapped in my car when it was stock was 99 mph. That was with 20 psi tire pressure in all 4 tires which slowed me down 1.5 mph. However, track conditions do play a part and could be effecting your trap speed. From looking at your timeslip though, it looks like you're just not driving it right. 14.8 is pretty pathetic, but once you get used to dragging the car, you should learn what it likes and what it doesn't like.

You need to go back and practice your launches and practice racing your Evo. Did you check how much boost your car was making? You may have a leak causing your boost to bleed off. I raced my Evo for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I ran a best of 13.81 and my best trap speed was 100 MPH on 91 octane completely stock. Just practice, you'll get better.

I agree. Try a bit more practice . . .

ITs normal if you're not a very good driver for the time to be slow, but generally, the trap should stay more or less the same unless you bog BADLY.

for instance, the 13.8 is a pretty bad run, but trapping 100mph means that the car isn't slow, the driver is.

This is a GOOD THING b/c you can change the driving. You can't make your stock EVO any faster than it would have been.

(let me explain that last point before people jump on me and tell me that you can mod your evo to make it faster: What i mean is, to make it faster all else being equal. A slower evo stock may be faster when modded, but not faster than a faster stock evo would have been, modded)

As you can tell, I need to practice also. My 60 foots were 2.0's to 2.2's. I'll be heading down to the track tomorrow to try and do some better 60 foots.

Yeah, if you're 60ft times are above the 2 second mark, you're only a good launch away from getting a kick a ss time goodluck

EvoTio, where in LA are you from? I am heading down to Fontana at the end of the month to get a time slip. Are you cruising down there?

Yeah, I realize I need alot more practice. Like I said this is my first AWD car and I do suck at the launch. I was slipping the clutch and not taching it very high. I was more concerned with the slow E/T than anything else. BasicEvo, I did run at Cecil County Dragway. Thanks everyone for the replies.
