Actually that means you need to learn how to drive that fwd car. Sorry to tell you but high 14's with that turbo neon is very slow with the power it makes.

Yeah I thought SRT-4s were capable of high 13s to low 14s stock. 14.8 is pretty slow for a SRT-4 and so is 14.3 for an EVO. I understand that the author was taking it easy on his EVO, but why drag race if your not gonna go all out. Perhaps he just wanted to know what his car was capable of, but how are you going to find out if your not willing to go ***** out. Of course with practice and more confidence in his car those times should improve dramatically.

14.1 was my best time so far. If I can get my 60' times down, I'm sure I could run better. Fact is I'm leaning more towards tracking the car than going in a straight line.

I understand what you are saying, but my point is if you are not willing to go all out, than expect the same results when it comes to tracking. Don't get me wrong, I know your new at it and your right with better 60FT times your time will go down.

It has nothing to do with the traction since it is the driver that makes that happen. You cant just drop the cltuch at 5k rpms on a fwd turbo car. It is all driver skill when it comes to hp and fwd. You need to learn how to feather the throttle or clutch till you get full traction to get a good launch.

Dude what are you talking about, of course everyone here talks about drag racing, because it is the drag racing forum portion of evolutionm.net. I think the EVO is a very capable drag racing car, come on AWD is lethal from a stop (just ask so many V8 owners who only want to race from a roll), I believe Turbo Trix has already proven this, many EVO owners across the country have already proven this, and the EVO and drag racing have been together for many and many years. That is what is so great about this car, because it doesn't matter what racing format the EVO is there and will perform. I mean the Turbo Trix EVO hits 9.95@143MPH and just a week later AMS does 10.84@134MPH. Then I pick up this months issue of Sport Compact Car Magazine, and they had a time trial competition with many high horsepower and heavily modified vehicles particpating, and Sparco EVO places third overall and first in class. Then I check the issue of Speed Magazine, were they test the EVO in the desert against a champion dirt bike, and the EVO wins the comparison and posts a faster lap in the dirt course. Let's not forget, the EVO has only been on sale in the USA for less than two years. I hate it when people say the EVO isn't meant to drag race, stop putting limits on a beautiful car that seems to have no limits except it's owners.

Everything is made for drag racing. It is just something everyone likes to do, just better to be doing it at the track then at some stop light. Not as many people go to the "track" as you call it since it cost more to do and there is more to lose if something happens. What is wrong with paying $20 to go have fun at the drags vs $200 to run at a track, eat up brakes nd lose a car if you get off the track for 1 second. Your insurance company is not going to cover a totaled car at the "track" and some people will not take that chance. Remember that most people own the evo as a daily driver not a track dedicated car.

I dont see why it wont hit 13's stock with street tires and a good driver.

(added)

Here is a post on the SRT4 forums, one guy pulls 14.1 and another has pulled 13.9 on a stock car. here

yea thats good. I ran a 13.96 stock. and I was telling myself Stock i want atleast a 13.9 and then ill treat myself to Stage one. and so i did. I launched at 3,000 and featherd the clutch and gas to compensate for wheel hop. Now i have a Filled mount and i havent been to the track yet to see about the hop. hmm. Good luck next time you run. I know you can do it. It took me 3 weeks to get to the 13's. Next is 12's MUHAHAAHAHA Let the modding begin!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe with some more practice your car will atleast hit low 14s. Try SRTforums.com out, maybe they can give you some pointers on how to launch the car better. I believe some SRT-4 owners have hit 13s stock (as Audi2ptzero) and a lot are running low 14s, they should be able to help you.
