First Time at the track on my EVO

I think the stock clutch seems to last longer dropping it then slipping it.
Good points but I think you missed mine.
Smoggrunner's experience with a stock clutch is the exception rather than the rule. Since every car and clutch is different, the comparison is of little value. GOKOU's stock clutch is slipping now and once he gets the BR stage 4 custom tuned, ups the boost with race gas, he will probably toast what is remaining of the clutch. Whether he dumps it or slips it.If he upgrades to an "on/off" aftermarket clutch, the chances of breaking the drivetrain improve substantially with a sticky track and high RPM dumps. Most high HP racers I know (with manual transmissions) "feather" the clutch. However, each should use the technique they find works best for them. Your individual experience (Smoggrunner's car) seem to be contrary to the majority of owners. I assume driver skill and as Napolean understood the fortunes of war..... "Don't Give Me Good Generals, Give Me Lucky Generals". (paraphrased). Have fun!

Audi2ptzero:
Clutches on all cars are different. Some clutches on these cars slip even on stock or midly mod cars. All I can tell you is that mines was smelling and slipping. If I had 2 more runs the time could be better but I didn't want to take the risk of destroying the stock clutch.
IF you run 12.3-12.4 on full interior, pump gas, 20psi, stock clutch then I give you props

Simpply:
This is not a road racing post. You car may be fast but there are always faster cars out there. It's how you react to a win or lost that signifies you from a newbie or a competitor. You clearly shown which group you belong to. If your car runs 12 with full interior and on pump gas (street setup) then I give you props no matter what car you drive. There are no timeouts on the street to start changing setups.
watchout:
Weather that day was great. 80 degree weather, sunny, cool with little humidity.

You should have showed up at carlsbad mike, you would have lost all your money to plenty of "street driven" civics and the evo8 running there yesterday.

Any recommendation for better times. I was hoping for lower times. I thought I saw posts where the times was better then 12.5 but with stage 1 or 2 only. Not sure if they use race gas or not. Should I be disappointed??
Run 1 - 4500 rpm slip the clutch

Run 2 - 5000 rpm slip the clutch
60 - 1.773
330 - 5.286
1/8 - 8.095
mph - 86.71
1000' - 10.510
1/4 - 12.530
mph - 111.96

Great run GOKOU!! excelent times for pump gas and 0nly 20psi. you shouldn't be disappointed with those runs
. If your getting the " twins" you won't be able to slip the clutch. might be more stress on your drivetrain.I myself am trying to get low 12's @ 113-114 on pump gas ( 93oct ) but with a H/F cat.

. only thing I would be frowning on is your slipping clutch

I guess your lucky you dont have to try for that in socal. Hard enough to get those times on race chips and race fuel at 25psi. But then most of the pump gas evo's still run 13's here.
Hey Nad1370, you and I have the same goal! After finding out that I lost only 10 HP on the dyno dynamics AWD dyno at AXIS racing when I swaped in my high flow cat I decided to leave it on and see what times I can run with it in place. I love how quiet my BR exhaust is with the cat in place and the Magneflow muffler option

guess its time to replace that stock clutch.... again good job!!!!
