Personal best 60'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went to Old Dominion today. I set a new personal best for my 60'. Since the last time on the track I have put on Dunlop SP Sport FM900 tires, ported O2 housing and 3" dp. My old crappy tires netted me a best 60' of 1.655 with a couple of 1.68s to back it up. Today I ran consistent 1.71s. On one run I have no idea how I did it cause I could never back it up but I pulled a 1.427 on street tires. I have the slip just no scanner until Tuesday. I actually asked the track official to see if the timing machine was broken but he said it was working just fine. I guess I have to play around some more to figure out what it was. But that .3 in the 60' if huge thats almost a full second in the 1/4mi.
Old Dominion is an 1/8th mi track. I never did full runs, just trying to get my launch down for Tekademics next week at MIR. It was a hot sunny day up there today.
What can I say, tires are awesome and the are GREAT for carving.

prolly an equipment problem just on that run. 1.427 does not sound possible and is not even close to your next best.

I think it's very possible... I've ran a couple 1.5's on the stock clutch and Dunlop Sp5000 all season tires on a 45 degree day!

Well...my best personal 60' is a 1.521 in an awd 90 talon. Was done with a 6000rpm clutch dump with a 300+hp turbo setup + 100 hit of nitrous that was flowing before i droppped the clutch(wot on the line on a studderbox revlimit). Tires are 235 60 15 bfg drag radials (4). Car alone was ~2800lb. The nitrous gives a 130+ ftlb of torque increase instantly.

Unfortuantly that's the best 60' that amount of power could do. Any higher rpm wouldn't show improvement, although it woudn't spin.

My gut feeling is that there is no way a full weight evo could possible pull a 1.42 will anything less than 500 intantanious hp. And certainly not on 17 real street tires.

Might not have been an electronics problem with the timing equipment, it's sometimes possible that a leaf blew past the beam or something odd like that at just the right moment.

not doubting your driving, as 1.65's are hammering out good on street tires

I'm thinking the Evo has a tall enough first gear where the 60ft mark comes before shifting into second. This could explain why it's so easy to hit good 60ft times in the Evo. I know for a fact in my WRX I had to shift to second before the 60 foot mark, I would have sick launches that would torque steer you to the left and only hit a high 1.6 60 foot. I take it easy on the Evo and hit 1.6's all day long.

i have an ACT 2600 clutch. I think it was an error but I have the timeslip. I was trying different techniques because I had new tires, O2 housing and dp. These tires will NOT spin coming off the line. On that launch I slipped the clutch a little. With my old tires I was lifting hard off the clutch and spinning all four.
