it's all right here. do the math. you lost all the time in the first 60'.
you were .34 slower on the later run. get the same launch as that first
launch and you ran a 16.75. and probably gain a mph or two as well
just bygetting the power to the ground quicker. not to bash or anything
but no matter how much power you make, it's always going to be harder for
you to get it down with 2wd. half the contact patch is half the contact patch.
with more power you will be able to turn wider tires though so that will help.

good luck and have fun man

no, you would need close to 10K to run 13s if you bought everything new buying a kit and not doing it yourself. lets just say we go teh typical rrm route:
rrm stg2 6200
exhaust 500
tires 500
lsd 900
tt, gauges, etc 400
clutch 750

all adds up to 9250 with doing all labor yourself besides the clutch.

I understand what Arithmetic is saying, but just to clarify, the EVO 8 right now holds the titles in Japan for the fastest road course car, yes faster than the Skylines as well

Just wanted to clarify

BACK ON TOPIC.

Lil red you need to invest in some better tires. Try going with a 215/55/15 tire or 205/55/15. The 205 is a little smaller diameter but it's the extra width you are looking for.

I have on some oversized 205/60/15 tires that were cheap and plan on getting some good performance tires once these are finished. WIth good tires you can get your 60's down into the low 2.3's or hopefully 2.2's (what I am shooting for) and that will have you in the mid to low 16's consistently.

My best time is in my sig and I have a couple threads in the drag racing section.

... im sick, very sick and I had to go to the office today, but still that has nothing to do with my outburst, i just get tired of ******** comments like that guy posted. It was just BS and un-called for, he deserved the outlash.

^^^ just to clarify, i said the evo wasnt made for the drag strip or straightline race either.

Also yes, i believe its the CF widebody evo, that ran a 55secs at tsukuba. That is fantastic, but when the evo ran that the R34 was still not in production. Yes, i know there are r34 gtr running around in japan still, but they weren't being manufacter at the exact time.

lilred... your launch, which has been said before, is where your difference is.

A basic theory is for every tenth(-.1) you lose in your launch you lose 2 tenths(-.2) in the 1/4. So if you got a 17.03 with that 2.74 you should have had around a 16.6 if you had kept your launch in the 2.4 area. My best times on stock tires i was pulling a 2.1-2.2 60'.
That is pretty good with stockers... on drag radials i manage consistant 2.0's. Get your 60'(launch) down and consistant first and the 1/4 mile times will show a great improvement.

Also you had almost a 3mph increase in trap speeds even though you had a crappy launch. That shows whatever mods you've done since your last session have improved you performance. That is actually a huge gain in mph with that launch. You may find sticking the lauch will get you in the mid 16's or lower with traps of 85mph or higher.

Thank god Boe and WAD are here - the voices of reason. I understand what y'all are saying about the tires and my launch. I think i have finally figured out how to launch and not have the wheelspin. If you checked out my other post (figures, can't find it now) i ripped off a 16.87 @ 81 mph - MISSING 3rd GEAR (grrrrr) i figure if i had nailed the shift i would have run an 60 or 70. I am chomping at the bit for next year - i can't wait.

Why are people taking mostly stock lancers to the dragstrip anyways? I think my mom's Camry would beat that, but I don't see dear old mom out there.

The base Lancer (in stock form) isn't made for 1/4 mile runs. I know of some people that have put like 10k and Nitrous in them and are running some wicked times. I don't see why they just didn't buy an EVO to begin with, but hey.
It's a good solid car, just not good for 1/4 miles. Be happy with what it does good!
Actually what you mean is your 1/4 time is faster than his 1/8th time. But that's besides the point.....you should quit being an A$$.
