If you really want to go faster, you need to stick with 15 inch rims or smaller.. less inertia and weight + more tire = better 60 foots and thereotically better 1/4 mile times.
The stiff sidewalls on the tires of the upgraded 17 rims won't help you much either, add that to the extra weight and intertia required to move the rims/tires and you're just worse off than using stock rims/tires.

i agree.. thats why i stayed with my light weight oz's and stuck some nice grip on there.. i'll still grab some 17's for show but run 15's for go..

what else do you have done to your lancer? suspension all that stuff plus do you have any pics id like to see your setup
