I know my evo doesnt match that of a dialed in autox monster.. but it wants to powerslide constantly with the ti strut bar and sparco harness bar installed.

Unhappy

Then, do you mean that powerslide is the general speaking of 'turning sideways'?
How to powerslide? Just floor the gas pedal while turning a corner?

Thumbs up

Hmm, I know what are drifting, oversteering and understeering. And I know that some driving techniques are involved, say, heel-and-toe downshifting, left-foot braking etc when drifting. But I dont know what is powerslide. Is it a kind of driving technique? Or it's the alias of 'drifting'? Or it's another kind of drifting? What's exactly happening when powerslide?

power on oversteer. Pretty simple actually. Hard turn in with some trailing throttle to get the car to start rotation, then gas it and be ready to feed countersteering once the back starts to rotate.

a powerslide is basically what happens when you give the car too much gas while you are in the middle of a corner. check out this segment of a top gear episode, he does a tonnn of powersliding in an FQ400 at the beginning.

generally when someone talks about powersliding its not as extreme as drifting, but essentially they are the same thing.

I have always been told that powersliding is done with 4wd vehicles, while drifiting is done with rwd vehicles, so it is a distinction between the same thing, just different vehicles.

From my understanding powersliding is just one form of drifting. Drifting is mostly having the car sideways and power oversteer (powersliding) is just one way to do this by using the power of the car to overcome the traction of the rear wheels while cornering sending the car into a slide that can be held with some opposite lock and throttle modulation.

Drifiting could also be caused by use of the handbrake, lifting off the throttle sharply mid corner, a scandinavian flick, or other methods. The Drift Bible or whatever it is called lists all of the ways drifting is usually accomplished and powersliding is only one of these.
