ralliart techniques?
hey i got a somewhat nicely moded ralliart, but unfortanatly on stock tires... when i launch i rev to 3500-4000 rpms and feather it out just perfectly so that i get small wheelspin, and i do not smell my clutch burning at all.. works very good for me.. im just wondering what you guys do w/ an equally modded ralliart, and what are your shifting points... i usually redline (6800 ish) at first and 2nd, then 6200ish the rest...(mivec looses alot of power after 6200...
one more thing... i red a post on here from early december about a guy who kept grinding 2nd gear alot even tho he held the clutch in and did everything right, and i got the same problem... i grind it up SOMETIMES, but not all the time... any advice how to help me with that?? (yea yea i know, learn to drive stick better) but for real, any advice would help me
so to re-cap, i have 3 questions..
1. where do you guys shift at?
2. what rpms do u guys launch at?
3. any advice on how to not grind 2nd?
Mods include - CAI, exhaust, RRM piggyback, clutch, flywheel, clutchline, short shifter, motor mounts, and CF hood.
i would like advice from Ralliart drivers with close to the same mods i have, but any advice would help... thanks alot guys

i launch and shift about the exact way you do. my experience has been about the same. if you can manage a good launch at launch at those rpm ranges /w ur mods, u know what ur doing =) what kinda times are u putting down? I usually get about 15.3's these days. i dont have the flywheel or clutch or weight reductions, but otherwise we are the same.
our car does like to lock us outa 2nd. My best method was to not think about it and try not to force it. It also helps to let off the gas about 20% between teh 1-2 shift, but that really hurts the ET and I say if ur gonna go for it, go all out....but it helps get a concistant 2nd.
may wana try some redline transmition fluid, as its a bith thicker and more slick and might help get a better engagement. otherwise, practice practice practice =)

again, thanks for your help, and thanksfor the complement (telling me i know what im doing) lol.... just one quick question... u say u launch he same as me... whats your 60'ft time???... thanks

I can get 2.2 60's on stock rims/tires. I need to work on some improvement there, as I know the car can do a 2.0 with the right conditions. But I do suggest you get to the track any time u can and as much as u can =) Seeing ur times the entire way down the strip really helped me focus on what needed work. Like, if I have a pretty good run /w a good 60', but a bad trap speed, I know I can do better and know I need to focus on my powershifting in the later gears. experience counts =)

1) usually not while racing =)
2) sometimes, but it increases the chance of grinding (but helps ur ET if u nail it on every gear!) if ur going all or nothing (ie: not a test run) then powershift every gear
just dont break it! and dont get into the red, or u will grind bad when u try to powershift. and do it FAST or ull get locked out every time
keep an eye on the engine dampanger thread. should help reduce grinding alot
