Launching question...

If boost is produced when there is a load on the engine...is there a way to produce boost at idle before a launch since there is no load on the engine? Wouldn't as much boost as possible be the best possible launch?

not necessarily, if you have too much boost, you could get too much slippage. But there was a thread in this forums a few weeks ago where people were talking about what RPM to go up to and how long to spool for. I wish I could tell you what they all said, but since I have no turbo I kinda skimmed over that part of the launching discussion. Run a search for launch, and see if you can find it. It should be fairly recent.

WHen launching, I always get a little tire squeal. Is this normal? I just feather at about 3000 and then when I hit engagement, I rev up to 5000+ and drop the clutch. THe car lurches forward and up slightly.
