clutch- dumped or burned?
The SS Clutch Line is probably one of the best mods for the money, it is 40 bucks. You can't go wrong and your clutch actually feels like a clutch so I totally agree that the SS Line is a must other words you don't know when the clutch is engauged and you burn it to much.

I've never been to the drag strip though and I suspect that is probably different because you probably have a harder time getting wheelspin with all the rubber that's already laid down there. Dumping it there could be rough on things if you don't get any wheelspin.
Between the restrictor valve and 2' rubber hose in the clutch line, I think
has given us a nice automatic launch control (for you F1 fans
) -- it gives you just about the right amount of slip when you dump the clutch, at least in a relatively low grip situation like at an autocross. If you've removed the valve and replaced the rubber hose with ss, then I think dumping is going to be too rough on the rest of the drivetrain. But you will have a better feel for how the clutch is actually engaging and that may be just what you need at the strip...

Anyways some ******* is spreading this slip clutch rumor to get noobs to buy new clutches and blaming mitsu when the stock clutch is fine if you drive normal and weekend race..
I think the drivetrain can hold a clutch drop pretty good. When a would slip the clutch out,if you slip it 1 second to long you will put alot of wear on your clutch and you will smell it.Ive started dropping it at 5-6 grand with no problems yet.Plus it's always good to have a backup credit card just in case on or the other goes out.
Before I installed my SS Clutch line I would sometimes get a bad smell when launching the car. The OEM Evo clutch line was just too mushy and I simply could not feel the engagement properly. With the SS Line I know exactly when im egaging and the feel is about 1000x better. I can properly launch the car now within safe limits (I dont beat the car on launches, just enough to get those tires going fast
).
In fact, I honestly forgot what the burning crap smells like. Stock clutch still going strong.

OK, so launching is ultra-important to me at the moment because I'm hitting the strip for the first time in my life on 5/22. I can't seem to get any wheelspin other than one day when the ground temp was 44 degrees at an autocross test & tune.
I need a good launch strategy and I need it now. Generally I'm doing some slip. I smell it every once in a while but no more than I have in other vehicles I've owned when doing it.
The problem is bog. I've gotten a chirp before but then it bogs... it takes me a slip to get a good, non-bogging launch feel.
I've got this vision of running it to 5500K and sidestepping the clutch - watching the parts fly out of my engine compartment...
What's working at the strip? It's supposed to be even stickier there. 55-6000K sidestep of the clutch? Then floor like mad?
Who's getting wheelspin at launch????????????
