I think that would be true on a RWD car, but an AWD car the wheel spin will benefit you as long as your not all over the place. I actually shaved a little off my 60 ft time just by putting on slimmer tires (225's)

Good luck on enjoying the evo in its intended form of motorsport.
Drag Racing is a motorsport.. a rather large one at that..p.s if mitsu intended for people to autox their cars they wouldnt void warranty's for doing it.

I perfected the 3500-4000 rpm quick slip 1 time since the 6 months I've owned the car.. it seems every mod I do makes the car work different and I have to relearn.. as soon as my leg heals its time to go to the track and see whats up

Well this is how I launch my Drag car. I stage then I press the button for the trans brake then put the pedal to the floor and then at about the last yellow I release the button. With my SS I hold the rpms at 3grand then I let the clutch out at a good pace not droping it. Then I hold the front end up in the air for a while. I know you were talking about your evos but I thought id share my techniques.

I try to launch at like 4000rpms. I slip the clutch as I push the gas. If done right you get a good launch and you don't burn the clutch. I prefer to slip the clutch bc I would rather replace the clutch( approx 500 dollars) than replace linkage in the drive train (much more money)

When you say a good launch....what does that mean? What kind of 60ft times are you running?

I use the factory Lunch control, I hold the rev's at 5200 or whatever the 05 lmiit is then start slipping it when the lights are falling then when I feel it grab I drop it and nail the throttle.

I don't own an EVO but I did launch my friends a couple of times and the best launch I got was probably holding it steady at about 4500 and just giving the clutch a quick slip and mashing it. Got a couple of chirps and it didnt bog, and the clutch didn't burn neither, was in the street so unfortunetely I can't give you guys a 60ft time on that.

Now if we are talking about my SRT then I guess i'm better off rolling it off all the time ****, I wonder if I can fit an EVO drivetrain on my SRT-4 Gotta love AWD

Anyone have any tales to tell with a IX?

In mine, the best launch (from what I can tell, the tracks are closed here)
Is bringing it up To around 5.5K and Little slip and dropping it. It takes off, but
You can smell the clutch afterwards, I think 4,500 would be a better option.
Maybe since the IX makes more tq down low.

Then I dropped it at 5,500 and I can wheel spin well into second gear, I think because it was a very cold night, with possible Ice on the road. Any other IX owners out there with their 2 cents?

Clutch smell afterwards is NOT a good sign and is a sure way to get your factory clutch replaced pretty quickly if done multiple times.

Can you post up your time slip so we could see how you did with the factory rev limiter enabled?
