lower gear? you mean you are starting in 3rd normally?
and no.
you lose so much torque starting in a higher gear.
i can't justify wasting much more time than this on that post, but it was bothering me.
you can do this put the (1)gear at neutral, (2)left foot on break pedal, (3) then put tranny in gear with foot on break pedal, (4) went time is right gas it. and let go of break pedal any where from 5k RPM*** but no more then 5Sec MAX. 10Sec*** and over just say bye bye to your tranny. and if you want to do it again wait about 30mins or so. untell you do it again.
doesn't the torque converter limit you well before 5k rpm? most cars stop at like 3 or something. and doing this for 5-10seconds will run your torque converter dry of fluid and probably shut off your engine before it falls out the bottom. also i think a 5krpm launch will cause your tires to spin. if you're looking for a good launch just hold the brake down, rev your engine a little (2k to 2.5k) and release, but don't do it over 3-5 seconds.
actually if you're looking for a good launch, buy a manual.

As far as good launching that's about the best plan, go with a stick. That's basically been established and agreed upon by others.

If you looked at the first half of the thread, you'd see this was suggested as well as cautioned due to the strain on the torque convertor.
I've done it once... actually Link did it in my car at our SoCal Lancer Club meet in huntington beach... little punk... you could feel and hear my car hating it... I'll never EVER do it again... no one else should either, if they love their car like I do
