Question Auto-launching

If I launch by reving to 3k in neutral and then just shift into drive is that gonna be healthy for my transmission? I haven't done it yet but I'd like to know.

No. Neutral drops are VERY stressful and very damaging. Unless you looooove havin' your car in the shop I'd suggest not doing it.

Silly auto Lancer's, hard launches are for manuals with a super grippy clutch and pressure plates. *tried to make it sound like the Trix commercials*

untrue if you've built your automatic transmission you can get better speed and consistency out of an auto over manual tranny as well as better launches just my 2 cents though not trying to offend anyone I like manuals still

How do you manage a better launch from an auto?

Not to mention if you can show me an auto Lancer with a built tranny I'll be impressed. If you can show me where anyone on these forums could get one I'd be even more impressed.

Well ,I happen to think that I have great and very consistent launches, alot better than my boyfriends 3rd Gen 5 spd Eclipse..

I have the level ten shifter and torque converter, its the best mod you can do if you have an auto tranny.
It was a little pricey because I had it installed by level ten themselves.

Highly recommended I shaved almost a full second on my 1/4 mile time with those mods alone..

i believe launching in a lower gear like 2nd would give a little more grip

Was it the 4 cylinder or V6 Eclipse? There's no way the OZ could touch the V6 (at least stock), but the 4 cylinder probably wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Hey lancerbabe, could you tell me where I can order the shifter and torque converter? Also could you tell me how much it costs installed? Thanks.

Well the Eclipse is a 4 banger
My tranny upgrades are all done by level ten
www.levelten.com
The product themselves arent terribly expensive but the labor is crazy.
BTW I cant beat the Eclipse, but like Tristar Racing said i was referring to the launches.
In case anyone is wondering I still dont have a fast car, so dont think that by getting these tranny upgrades that you'll be beating everything on the street, but its definetly an improvement.

But for an auto lancer i do think i have pretty good times...
With a 50 shot of Zex
my best time is a 16.1
Upgrades are minimal
short ram intake
magnaflow muffler
NOS
and tranny mods
If anyone is thinkin of running NOS or any other form of FI I would recommend beefing up your tranny first, especially if u have an auto..

ok, i'm done now
cheers
