I'm impressed with the 440kit and for 2300 bucks it's a steal. Now was this 100octain or 93-94? And what was the boost set at? Also if it was 100octain what would be the pump gas numbers and at what boost level?

Thanks
Eric

Maybe I wasnt clear enough

20 psi - pump gas tune - 93 octane Buchusr stage 4 vs. 440 kit (same car)

Approx 23 psi - pump gas tune pushed to the edge - 3037 S kit vs 440 kit (different cars)

Higher boost - 27 psi approx (almost maxed out) - pump gas settings but run on mix of 100 octane unleaded and pump gas 50 / 50% - Buchur 440

Al,

You've sealed the deal as far as trekking up there for a meticulous dyno tune. I have to get my crap together and arrange a date. I want to talk to you about doing a tune using water injection to quell knock and hopefully run 24-25psi of boost on 93 octane.

I'm glad to see this turbo being recognized for the gem that it is. It really has great spool up and is not too laggy. Street drivability is great. With this turbo my car will do 0 to 60 runs in the 4.2-4.5 sec range all day long without dumping the clutch at 5,000 rpm.

By the way, the injectors Buschur supplies are 680s.

I think it could have made a bit more power at high boost on C-16 and more agressive tuning, but not a lot more. In this situation, I wanted to be totally safe and conservative while testing the potential of the turbo. With a AEM and no air flow meter it seems this unit could easily reach its claimed 440 whp.

No problem to use water injection. That would be a good option to get into this turbo's sweet spot at 24 - 25 psi where it really starts to make serious power gains with pump gas.

I will be tuning in Florida all o next week but will be back here the following two weeks.

Yep, I would also venture to say on 272s all around that would pull almost 400whp on Pump with 23psi.

That may be an optamistic outlook but its certainly within reason. I peresonally prefer to err on the side of super conservative tuning on pump gas and 380 whp is darn fast for the street and certainly nothing to sneeze at for the cost of this unit which is a real bargain for what you get. The real serious good point is the fact that it spools up nearly as quick as stock. That is the main atribute which really distinquishes this turbo from all the other ones I have tested so far.

If you compare it to say the HKS 3037 which has a pump gas potential of an extra 20 - 30 more whp - - BUT which spools up almost a 1,000 rpms later in tghe power band and which costs twice as much and which is no where as durable - - then it starts to look better and better

I forgot to say (This guy had a cat right?) Catless and 272s all around.
