2 different maps?

Myself and the Vegas evo owners were talking about having the custom tune done with 2 different maps. One for 91 oct and the other for 100 oct. Can you explain how this would be done if it can? Thanks

There are basically two ways to do this

1 - The best way buyt more $ - buy a used ecu from either someone with an evo that was in a wreck or went to aem and have that 2nd ecu programed by the dealer with your cars imobilizer and key codes - this way you will have two fully functional ecus for your car which you can switch back and forth. This way I can make one a 100% street pump gas tune and the other a full out 100% race tune

2 - Get the so called dual stage flash - FREE with your Dyno Flash appointment. With this flash we set 90% of the ecu settings to the pump gas map. Only the area for super high boost is set on race settings. We tune both the race gas and pump gas maps into the same ecu.

Advantage - cheap and easy

The disatvantage of the dual stage flash is that it can not be as agressive as a race only flash (still it gets decent power)

Also - another significant issue is that IF you ever over boost by accident you could blow up your engine as there is no boost cut and there are race settings on the top load cells

A solution which is recomended is a electric boost controller with a warning feature which can be adjusted to cut the boost at 22 psi and avoid over boosting

The dual stage option is not for every one - but it is working well in the cars which are running it now

One other question I have is for the custom tune do I need to have the 02 sensor in the cat back? I am installing a UR test pipe and I need to put the sensor in the test pipe for the cel fix. I can leave it alone until you tune it, just thought I would ask.

No - I am talking about when someone accidentally sets the boost to 25 psi or when the hose comes off the boost controller and it rises without control

We anticipate boost spikes in the mapping

I assume you are plugging the hole that the 02 sesnor WAS in with a plug - mostly likely a 19mm head - if so we will use the hold hole. The bung on the UR pipe is not good for our testing as it has an extension

I thought you were referring to boost spike as well. This is good to know. The test pipe is installed and yes the cat back now has a bung in it.

Most boost spikes are like 1 - 1.5 psi - what I am talking about is 5 more psi of boost - or more
