I loved my Cusco and I do understand that Exedy makes them also but my Cusco does not chatter but I believe the abuse has caught up with it and a replacement is in store. Thanx for your response and civility.
By assertion was meant to illude that the clutch has the ability to hold enought tq to go 10 seconds - IF your car is making that much power

I dont sell those units so I dont know how much they charge

Guys - when I drove this car finally yesterday - it was like entering a new state of being. It was sick to drive a car that stock and that fast. Its almost as fast as my race car and has snow tires on pump gas - madness

Damn, this is exactly what I will be running in a month or so. Al get ready to tune my monster next Honestly , after having a previous Evo with the AMS gt35r and tuned by Al I would'nt let anyone else tune my car, driveability, power, smoothness were all top notch

91 pump gas

Al,

What do you think a gt3037 turbo kit on alcohol with crappy california gas will put down.

Is it worth it, or should race gas be used along with the alcohol.

bump! Al my alky kit is getting built right now and my gsc cams are on their way...i will be assembling the car (turbo setup, twin disc carbon clutch, and everything else) and getting it ready in preperation for april 15th and 16th (switzer will have their awd dyno running) so can you PM me and let me know when we can do the flash tune. I would like to run it on friday (between showing the BR330 and BR350 cars). but if i have to wait till saturday for the tune then so be it. Could we go to switzer and tune it on the dyno there? PM me with suggestions.
Dave

sorry to dig up an old thread but why would alky injection work better than 110 or c16.. Alky is cheap alternative to race gas that doesnt work as well, (or atleast thats what I had always been told, by many other tuners..) *this makes my brain itch*

Alky is not better than race gas, it mainly allows u to run higher boost levels safely with pump gas. It's basically an alternative to race gas cause your not gonna want to run race gas on the street, unless u have serious $$$. Anyways, im kinda happy u dug this thread up cause i have an RNR GT30R kt coming and i have my coolingmist alky injection kit sitting in my room

Hey Al, have u heard any thing about the coolingmist alky kit or have any experience with it? I know your a supporter of the SMC kit, but i was looking to save some money in certain areas. Any advice is really appreciated!

IMHO - it is idiotic to try and save money on an alochol kit as a failure of that system will result in a blown motor

Penny wise and pound foolish is a phrase that comes to mind

I have seen some cheap systems out there that do not have progressive controlers or test lights and do not come fully assempled like our kit

Ouch, think i hit a nerve there......I'm not trying to cut corners, i just happended to find a different alky kit and it happened to be cheaper. I can upgrade it with warning lights and controllers, so im not really worried. Just asking if u had any input on that particular kit, im not looking for a lecture.

Okay I may just have high hopes or im high strung, but here are my thoughts, I have been makeing my self sick trying to map out my build. Im hopeing for 500whp on DD dyno. So the GT3037 may be out. I think im pretty set on the 35r because I do plan on a engine build up at time of turbo or shortly after. Anyways let me run the plan by and you guys can tell me if im just barking up the wrong tree. As of now I have been a vishnu cu and im happy (not doing any bashing or build ups) Im just letting you know what I have.

So 05 MR with vishnu stage one sig+, hks 272's, fidanza camgears, full turbo back with test pip exhaust, and ofcourse the little guys that make it all tick such as xede, fuel pump, etc. Talking with AMS they said get some injectors and the 35r kit and your going to be blazing.

Here are my thoughts, The gt35r turbo with a race map tune and a 93 octane tune. On the 93 octane (in hopes of it not being lame) would like to add alky/ water kit (Which ever works out the best), overkill?. On race map.. well 110 or c16. I would like to know if there is anything eles that is needed to go with this stuff. I know with out the engine built up 500 whp on DD dyno is out of the question but I have seen others hit around 470ish with c16. Again im just looking for idea for my build up.

thanks guys.

Al,

What is your opinion on the BR440/BR500 and the alky kit on California 91 octane. I already have the alky kit with the stock turbo and you 91 flash, just got hte work done at Buschur a few weeks ago. I also had them por the exhaust and intake manafolds, the turbine, the o2 housing and the throttlebody.

After all that it is slower than it was with my 94 flash with no porting and no alky. Needless to say I am not really happy. I did not know that goin from a 94 - to a 91 octane flash would make that much of a power loss given the fact that I added the porting and the alky.

I am moving to LA in the next couple months and will be stuck wtih 91 octance what do you think about upgrading the turbo to the BR440/500 and running 91 octane with all my other mods. Any idea what it could make? Is it worht it?

thanks,
-Doug

The colling mist kit you mention is a el cheapo generic kit which has no micro prosessor controlled control unit, is not custom designed for the Evo VIII and is not pre-assembled

My alcohol kit comes specifically designed ONLY for Evo 8's with over 6 months of development and testing to create a pre-built drop in Evo 8 specific alcohol kit which is safe and hassel free

My kit is $499 and comes with a brand new factory fmic sprayer tank and everything already professional installed and wired

People who are looking to save costs should really look in other areas than trying to personally design and set up a generic alcohol kit on an evo - it took David Buschur, myself and SMC several months of trial and error to get it just right to the point that further revision is not needed at this point

Alcohol kits carry risks of fire if not properly installed and risks of blown motors if not properly set up - not a place I would look to save $200
