MR Ecutek flash next week, question on mods

I have another question for Al or the rest of you. I would like to say thank you Al for answering all of my questions when I have called 10 million times. I have an MR and made it 6900 miles before breaking down and modding it. I swore to my wife I wouldn't do this to this car. Anyhow, I ordered the Bruschur TBE with high flow cat and his exhaust. Also ordered the K&N drop in air filter and Walboro pump. These will all be on before Al tunes of course. Question is should I go with their Air filter kit or their air filter kit and mass air flow pipe insted of drop in. Also was interested in the standard upper I/C pipe. I know everything works better in combinations, but wanted to see if it wass worth spending the extra on these items. I won't be doing any other real mods to this car besides these for years. The car is a daily driver for me, I put on around 50 miles a day. Wanted to find out what the expected gains on my original set up and if I were to add these other items.

If I understand your question (K&N dropin vs. K&N Typhoon) then the answer is that Al has not had much success
getting any performance out of the Typhoon.
He cautions against it. It is very tricky to tune because it distorts the MAF readings in a very uneven way.
Most all other intakes also distort the MAF reading, but seem to do it consistently, and are better suited for tuning.

I was refering to Bruschur's air filter kit versus the K&N drop in filter, sorry if I wasn't clear. Then also was interested in the mass air flow pipe and upper i/c pipe. Was trying to guage hp potential on an MR with this flash with these mods.

The Buschur kit is good for at least 8 - 10 whp over the stock air box - adding the mass air pipe is worth another few hp also.

The only draw back is some people don't like the additional noise - but I love it

Well the car was never dynoed. My butt dyno tells me this thing has gone thru major change. Boost all the way to red line, before it would spike then taper off big time. My car is a beast! Mods were Buschur 3" TBE with high flow cat, Helix intake and Walboro fuel pump.
