1st Ecutek Dyno Flash - stock 2005 MR

Guys - here is the first MR I tuned on the new Ecutek based softwear flash

The neatest thing about this is that the boost is 100% controlled by the ecu - NO boost pills - no modifications to any line

100% stock

This was 20.5 psi tapering to 19 psi at red line

A nice conservative tune with a fairly rich a/f and nothing too agressive in the timing

This car is 100% stock - its amazing what you can do with just the reflash when you add in board boost control

BTW - The price on this unit is $650 custom tuned with 2 hours of dyno time - that includes your Licsense fee ONE TIME - then you can get re-tuned at a much lower cost as the ecu already has a ecutek licsense attached

Al, can you fill me in on what the pill does? I installed the Halman MBC but don't think I used the rubber hose with the pill in it. I had a custom tune by you a month ago and things were fine, just wondering if it makes a difference?

Thanks,

MVEOVA

with using a MBC you remove the use of the hose with the pill in it. i think what Al was referring to is, companies like WORKS that using the stock boost solenoid to control boost, you have to interchange that hose with a different hose that has a pill in it with a different orifice size. i originally has WORKS P2 and I was getting boost spikes everytime to 24psi...a little high for my taste. so i gave the car over to Al and let him tune it with a hallman MBC as well. the results were quite amazing actually. with the P2 and with an MBC holding at 20 to prevent the spike my car put down 273whp...then with Al tuning it we got the car up to 310.

I assume that you would still have to buy the Ecutek in addition to the flash, or am I missing the point?

Please explain how Ecutek licensing works.

An STi friend of mine said that Ecutek just released a do-it-yourself product for the STi that allows the car owner to do unlimited flashes without a shop for a fixed price. He said that Ecutek is on the verge of releasing the same thing for the Evo.

Is this true? He thought that the product would be in the ballpark of UTEC pricing.

The graph is scaled so that the tq and whp lines do not add up but if you look at 5200 on the right and left scales they do add up

The do it yourself kit is not yet out for the evo - it is under consideration and may be released in the future - along with other improvements

At this stage its just the initial product roll out - more improvements are in the works with ecutek
