I'm in your area and I am interested in having Al make a trip here. I only live 35 minutes from charleston. Al doesn't need a dyno. When he went to buschur this weekend he didn't use the dyno.

you only have the option of reflashes (they are free) with the custom tune. the base flash just covers the parts you have already.

just curious, what gas are you using since you have no tune & you're running at 1.65 bar (23.93psi)????

on the '03 car, i'm running 25psi safely with 9 deg advance timing on 1st & 2nd gear w/16 deg adv timing on 3rd & 4th gears with 101 octane unleaded & NO detonation.

My car is black. Do you know anybody else in the area that might be interested in having Al make a trip here? A friend of mine has a wrx. He might be interested. Also, there are at least 3 other evos that I have seen driving around town. I don't know who they are but if I see them again I will ask if they are interested. My car has already been flashed and it made a huge difference. I am interested in having Al do a couple installs before my car is flashed again. Do you ever drive to Huntington?

Not a problem Al. You did my car good. I just wish I had a tranny at the time to show everyone what good work you did.
FYI I decided to purchase the UTEC instead of the EMS. TurboXS is 1hr from where I live and my sponsor is getting me free dyno time. I've already talked to a few guys up there and they will be teaching me how to tune and what to look for. I don't want them to tune it for me, I want to tune it and learn about. Then eventually I will step up to the EMS.
I just hope I'm not with the UTEC

Are you sure that you don't want to go straight to the EMS and pay a tuner if that's really where you want to be? There's nothing stopping you from learning the system even if a pro does the initial tune. It takes a lot more skill and experience to do the base tune than to tweak a tune that is close. Even with the UTEC I'd get a conservative base tune from a pro and then go from there.

Maybe we should start up a new thread and see who we can get rounded up... I've got a friend with a wrx that might be interested as well.

I've got a rally red.. The only day I'm ever in Huntington is on Thursdays to pick my gf up from Marshall.

I'm having Turbo XS tune my car with me their so they can teach me.
The reason i went with UTEC over EMS is with what I'm doing now, I'd like to know the car doesnt' start because of some wire or vacum line i missed not cause of the computer. The UTEC doesn't control start up or the mundane functions of the car. The EMS you have to tune the car from the start to every parameter the car runs under. Yes it has more tunability, but its all beyond me right now. Plus I will not have anyone but AEM certified tuners tune the car and their are none in my area. The last thing is with my sponsor I get free tuning and dyno time with TurboXS so I really couldn't turn that down

You live in So Cal right? All you need is 5 people for Al to make a trip to your location. He was just in the LA area not to long ago.

I was in Huntington yesterday looking for a house to buy. I start work at Special Metals on May 2nd.

I got an EcuTek tune at Buschur this past Saturday. Al is one cool cookie. I'd come to Charleston just to say hi to Al and chit-chat with fellow Evo owners. I have a friend here in Parkersburg that I'm trying to convince to get a flash. Start that "Al, please come to Charleston" thread!
