My experience with Dynoflash
My experience with Dynoflash
Since there is a lot of bashing and 'calling out' going on, I figured I would post what I have wanted to post from when I last got my car tuned.
I went to Pruven Performance on Halloween weekend of last year. I had an 11 o'clock appointment with Al. When I got there Sean was the only one there from the shop. There was one other Evo there, the 9am, he hadn't been tuned yet. I had driven 7hrs from VA to CT to get this done. I had my two friends who both came with me from VA and my father and little brother there also.
Sean called Al to find out where he was at, Al said he was on the way. 30min later, Sean called again, Al agitated told him to wait that he was on his way there. Al finally shows up 45min later in an Evo that wasn't his. He made some adjustments on it then got right to work on the 9am Evo. He got him tuned and out there door. Al didn't rush him or rush the tune. As a matter of fact, he did abuot 15pulls with him because he couldn't figure out why he was getting a little bit of knock. Al suggested a fuel pump but the kid said he didnt' have money for it. Al tried tuning a bit more but couldn't get any consistent runs. Al figured it was a bad tank of gas. Al set up another appointment with the guy for a free tune once he ran that tank out and got good gas put in there.
I was up next. I was 3hrs late on the dyno but I was really into helping the other guy out and seeign what his problems were. We made a baseline pull and put down some crappy numbers. A/F falling off the planet. I was running drug dealer rich. Al leveled that out but I still wasn't putting up numbers. I was lost. Al suggested a boost test. We found 4 or 5 serious boost leaks. We fixed those and bam I was at 325whp. Still no where near what I should be. We checked my boost controller and Al said it wasn't working properly. We tried changing the vacuum lines but nothing worked. He asked if I wanted to try the Hallman, I said sure why not. The next pull I was at 345whp! I was hooked I wanted it. I went and talked to Al about it. I had money for the tune, not to buy the boost controller. Al and I talked and he ended up letting me walk away from there with the Hallman because he saw how much I liked it but most imporantly needed it.
I talked with Al through out the tune about his car and the car he drove in that day.
The car he drove was a cammed Evo with the BR440 turbo kit. Al was late because he was trying to get the car to boost. He said it was running like **** and wouldn't idle. He had been up to 3am the night before trying to figure it out but couldn't. Then on the way to Pruven that day he had a revelation and tried something and it worked. Instead of doing it halfass, he showed up late to fix this guys problems. That guy now has a 450whp beast on his hands all because Al worked and plugged along tuned it on his own time and wanted the best for the guy.
As a customer, I like hearing that, that to me shows dedication and customer support.
During my tune I would ask Al a question as to why he is doing something. Granted I couldn't understand the graphs on his computer, but he was very informative and friendly about it.
Now that I am moving up to bigger and better things in the Evo community I have grown out of the Dynoflash. I recommend Dynoflash to anyone who is starting to upgrade their Evo. Not only will it be faster, but it will be smoother and run better.
Al thanks for you support and I hope to see you out at the track this year.

Same here.. I've just got a mail in flash.. I think I'm gonna have to suck it up and make a longass drive.
Anyone happen to know where Pruven is located? They have an AWD dyno right? I'm probably going to plan my vacation around getting my clutch installed and a custom tune

Go 2 blocks to Boston Post Rd and turn left. You will see the sign on the left. Yes they have an AWD Dynojet.

EVOJUN: why don't you mail it in
I just check yahoo maps and it's like 650 mile drive (10hr)
It also looks like it would be a major headache. US RT 50 is a ***** at least in WV.. not to mention it passes through Philly/Nework (or appears that way)..
I could also meet at bushcur but they only have a fwd dyno :\ Plus that would be a drive for Al.. hmmm

It's my understanding that a mail-in flash is kind of like a "base" flash.
I was looking at your sig.. you're running 1.65 bar?!? That's a lot of boost if you don't have any tuning
