Al, Need some help before Colorado Tune...

Al,

i just wanted to ask you a couple of questions before the Colorado Custom Tune.

1) I am looking at ordering a gt35r kit, local people are telling me to expect an additional 20% delay in spool on any turbo compared to sea level, is this true? i will be using 91oct and alky all the time, should i still stick with this turbo?

2) i currently have the 1g bov, im sure it will not hold the amount of boost once i get your custom tune, is the forge bov the best one? what about the turbosmart vta/recir bov? are there any others you would recommend more?

3) would you recommend and ignition system upgrade (hks dl2) if i get the gt35r? what about spark plugs and wires? are 680 injectors going to be enough?

4) are there any other upgrades you would recommend to achieve the most power from a flash (other than stroker/built 2.0, since i cannot find anyone to install either one)?

5) what about drivetrain upgrades? would the exedy twin be the best clutch for me? how much do you sell them for? on top of this i plan on ams bushings and hopefully the quaife lsd (the last batch was recalled). what upgrades do you have?

i apologize for so many questions, i just want to have every power upgrade done before the flash since there would probably be no chance of you comming out again. if there are other upgrades you recommend, please let me know.

While on the high elevation subject, Do you tune differently for higher elevations? I live at 5600 feet, would that make much of a difference?

If your serious about having your engine built let me know. I worked with some guys down in the Springs who do great work. They installed a 2.3L stroker for me. The GT35 will be laggy at altitude vs. sea level but I'd still run it.

how long would an engine build take, stroker vs 2.0? i want to order my kit today and need to decide which turbo to get. like i said, i will only be running 91oct and alky. so far i have been advised to get the gt3076r since i only have 680 injectors and going to be using a flash, i was told if i had an ems and ran race gas, then the gt35r would be the best.

The Gt35R is my personal favorite. With proper tuning the extra lag can be negated

1G bov is plenty unless you want something which looks fancy

Yopu dont need an ingition upgrade with the flash - a plug upgrade is helpful

4) are there any other upgrades you would recommend to achieve the most power from a flash (other than stroker/built 2.0, since i cannot find anyone to install either one)?

See the articles on my car in Turbo Magazine - October, 2004 and January 2005

I have access to one used but good condition Exedy Twin carbon with upgraded pressure plate - that is the best clutch

i apologize for so many questions, i just want to have every power upgrade done before the flash since there would probably be no chance of you comming out again. if there are other upgrades you recommend, please let me know.

Good luck with the GT35 turbo. I just want to make sure that you're not misled to believe that tuning can magically make 5800ft absl act like sea level as far as a turbo goes. I have a standalone in my car and I can't make my turbo spool up here like it does at sea level. I've run my car with an HKS 3240 in Denver and at sea level. The difference in spool time and boost is night and day. No offense to Al, but he's misleading you if you are being led to believe that you'll see the same results up here as those running a GT35 at sea level. Expect lag and realize that there's not much you can do about it especially with a 2.0L. Unless the flash is magic!

Look at sea level GT35 dyno charts and add about 15% to 20% to the spool time. That will give you a realistic idea of what to expect.
