Dyno testing can we do this.

Question AL,

is it possible to Dyno test the EVO on a 2 wheel dyno. i know of a local shop and he thinks he can just dyno it like a front wheel drive car., with jacking the rear of the car up off the ground. granted it would not be perfect but could it give me some starting parts with my build up and tune. I did get a chance to talk with Buschar but he said there EVO was converted to full time front drive when he was doing his testing.

thanks Mike

ps i would like to try and make the Aug trip to Austin keep us posted.

Well, to give you an update. you dont jack up the front , you jack up the rear. front wheel drive is more direct. IT WILL WORK. i have dyno runs, the question would be how much power loss and does the car have some electronics that will keep you from seeing the full potenial. I didnt get a base run. my first runs were after , with cat back exhaust and downpipe, dynoflash, IC pipe and intercooler. the Dyno sheet is not quite smooth and it did seem as if something kept the car from its full potenial. the numbers are low compared to similar cars but with my recent mod changes i could see significant gains . so as for as my dyno experience goes it was helpful. 2nd run was after header, turbo outlet , and Hiflow cat. graph 3 shows 35 hp and 30 more torque. nice little bump. PSI 22 then drops slightly to 20 and holds to 7800rpm. the first graph doesnt force scale so it looks a little different on the slope.

the real question is , at about 5800-6000 the car seems to pause then cont to pull to redline. on the road you never get this feeling and it pulls hard all the way to 7800rpm. the air/fuel is really rich off the scale . the last dynoflash tune was with A/F at 11.2-11.4 . seemed richer than my first tune . to me it seems like something is keeping the car from making full power either fuel wise or knock. i will hopefull get some ECU managment here soon and see if i have knock or timing issues. all runs were on 93 oct gas. so far i am real happy with the mods. i may get a chance i will go to dallas and do the 4 wheel dyno for an idea of the difference.
