I think it is amazing at how many different variables affect the stock ECU timing. It must make it very hard to ever get the most power down at the track.... I am looking at two of my logs from different days.... Here is the break down:

4492,+26.3,1091,100, 20, 00, +14.1, 42.1,+13.0, +2.4, 75.00,1004
4616,+26.8,1228,100, 20, 00, +12.0, 47.1,+13.0, +1.3, 75.00, 838
4796,+26.3,1385,100, 20, 00, +9.7, 52.7,+12.8, -0.4, 75.00,1136
4990,+25.9,1602,100, 30, 00, +9.9, 61.0,+12.1, +0.1, 75.00,1082
5192,+26.1,2049,100, 40, 00, +7.2, 69.8,+12.0, -0.6, 75.00,1351
5359,+25.7,2173,100, 50, 00, +1.0, 81.0,+12.0, +2.2, 75.00,1785
5602,+25.7,2392,100, 60, 00, +1.2, 82.2,+12.0, +6.3, 75.00,1851
5868,+25.7,2551,100, 60, 00, +3.1, 87.3,+12.0, +7.5, 75.00,1879
6060,+25.7,2617,100, 70, 00, +5.2, 93.5,+12.3, +5.1, 75.00,1923
6349,+25.9,2688,100, 80, 00, +8.5, 95.1,+12.8, +3.2, 75.00,1851
6510,+26.1,2673,100, 80, 00, +10.4, 98.3,+13.7, +0.9, 75.00,1798
6747,+26.3,2702,100, 80, 00, +12.6, 94.9,+15.8, -0.6, 75.00,1923
6973,+26.3,2777,100, 80, 00, +15.8, 92.5,+16.7, -0.8, 75.00,1879
7153,+26.1,2793,100, 90, 00, +16.5, 95.0,+17.1, -1.5, 75.00,1923

After the 00 column is the stock timing

Here is another log from a different day:

4456,+26.8,1103,100, 20, 00, +11.6, 42.4,+11.4, +6.4, 75.00, 726
4623,+26.6,1219,100, 20, 00, +8.3, 48.7,+11.5, +6.0, 75.00,1168
4789,+26.6,1377,100, 20, 00, +8.5, 54.1,+11.7, +5.9, 75.00, 992
4945,+26.6,1557,100, 30, 00, +8.5, 60.2,+12.3, +5.1, 75.00,1366
5144,+26.6,1529,100, 30, 00, +8.6, 63.8,+12.7, +6.2, 75.00,1237
5299,+26.6,1461,100, 40, 00, +8.0, 59.1,+13.4, +8.0, 75.00,1237
5500,+26.6,1582,100, 40, 00, +7.0, 60.5,+14.3, +8.0, 75.00,1336
5688,+26.8,1754,100, 40, 00, +9.1, 62.4,+15.2, +8.0, 75.00,1488
5847,+26.6,1718,100, 50, 00, +11.2, 63.6,+15.9, +9.2, 75.00,1533
6027,+26.3,1798,100, 50, 02, +11.4, 69.2,+16.4,+11.0, 75.00,1644
6195,+25.9,1930,100, 50, 00, +13.1, 72.6,+17.1,+11.0, 75.00,1602
6361,+25.7,1953,100, 50, 00, +13.4, 74.7,+18.5,+11.0, 75.00,1724
6510,+25.7,1937,100, 50, 01, +14.6, 77.3,+19.7,+10.8, 75.00,1677
6693,+25.9,1992,100, 60, 00, +15.7, 78.5,+20.1,+10.2, 75.00,1562
6872,+26.3,2100,100, 60, 00, +17.6, 79.2,+20.3,+10.0, 75.00,1748
7017,+26.6,2118,100, 60, 00, +18.7, 81.6,+20.6,+10.0, 75.00,1748

Notice how one goes to 1 degree of timing where the other goes to 7. That has to be a pretty significant power difference. If I get more time I will try to figure out a better idea of how the stock ECU decides how to adjust the timing based on different factors such as coolant temp (This would help test out the 'Race Chip' I believe). If the coolant temp makes a 10 degree timing difference it would obviously be a huge advantage. Other things would be the intake temp. A knock prone map compared to a no knock map is probably a large difference as well. Anyways, it all takes time but would be pretty neat to see.

Ahh.. I figured it affected the timing map. I guess it is the fuel map. I have no way of testing that anymore. I think in-advertantly it would have changed the timing map as well. I could be very wrong though. Have you done much testing on the stock ECU's idea of where timing should be?

What chip are you talking about? Do you need a flashed ecu to use it?

Knock is the # 1 factor in effecting the timing changes and which timing map is being used

I am sure that you could run it on a dialy basis - however without long term testing I am not confident in making that recomendation

UNLIKE other tuners - if you may recall - I personally went through extensive training and condicted exhuastive beta trials before I released my Dyno Flash product

In a few more months I will have more comfort level with teh race chip

For now - it is safe to use in a racing situation with race gas

Gotcha. I will hold off and await your further testing.
