Vp racing 110 octane kills Flash on car?
Full 3" Exhaust, walbro fuel pump, Hallman MBC set at 22 drops to 19 at redline and custom dyno flash tune moded evo without the flash i ran a 13.597 @ 101.90 with a 1.990 60" Ft. at Palmdale CA then i got the flash and it felt like it ran better but when i went back with the flash and VP racing 110 fuel i only pulled a best of 13.982 @ 97.971 mph?! so i was wondering if the fuel made the car run funny or if it was the flash? thanks
Ive ran C16 with a flash.Im not sure.Could be your shifting, heat, boost leak.We could play the guessing game all day.The fuel shouldnt hurt the car at all.It should actually keep it from detonating as easily.
IT was kinda humid that day but my shifts were good even if i had to bang it in there and grind i did it... the thing also is that i ran my friends moded S14 silvia two days earlier with pump gas only and would beat him by two cars and he hit 13.8 the same day i ran a 13.9

al, chime in if i'm way off base here. my understanding of the flash is that it limits max timing to a certain value that al puts into the load table when he does the custom tune. if the timing is fixed by al, then putting in a super high octane gas like 110 leaded may actually cause the car to lose power because you are running much richer and the egt's are a lot lower, probably a good 150 degrees lower. the higher octane gas is not able to cause any more timing advance and therfore the car will run slower.
When you run race gas - turn UP the boost to 24 psi peak - that is how you realize the extra power
Without turning up the boost you will loose power on race gas - slight but a loss

i did turn up the boost but the weird part was that normally i run 22psi which tappers down to around 19-20 but at the track i was only boosting 18 so i had to crank it up to 22 and when the next day i was boosting 25 so i think it was probably the track conditions Palmdale LACR is at high elevation but i was wondering if the gas was also a factor thanks
Your prob is the Dflash. SInce it can hold only one map, I am assuming it was tuned for 91 **** water. When you introduce another variable, the flash still sees it as 91. I heard the flash runs rich anyways so you are basically wasting fuel by running race gas.

So true...that's why I could only go 11.90's and evodave 11.50's on a pump gas tune
