UTEC Vs. DYNOFLASH? Which has better control?

I was looking to use Al's dynoflash but my past experiences with flashes have not been successful (Not Al's of course) and my power seems to keep going down about 50WHP and I keep having to flash it back. Anyway I was thinking of UTEC, would this tuning device offer a better tune and more power then a flash?

Also Can Al tune a UTEC? I have been looking long and hard and it reminds me so much of the DSM link and I like playing and I also want proper Injector and timing control as well.

Thanks.

They are two totally different products

The Dyno Flash is a finished - plug and play - inexpensive tuning solution that gets your car running well with zero effort and with excelent driveability and power.

The UTEC - by its own name is end USER TUNEABLE ENGINE CONTROL - is an invitation to conduct a personal journey of discovery and tuning. For less that it would cost you to get your UTEC tuned you can have a Dyno Flash.

In any event I personally do not care for the UTEC. The interphase sucks and I dont care for the knock control set up.

IMHO for a bit more the AEM is a better choice for those who wish to do their own tuning. I love the AEM and it does a lot more things much better than the UTEC. Just my personal preference.

i love the utec i wouldnt personally go with a flash me Personally just cause i knew in the future i would b doing more upgrades and i cant have the car down like 5 more times well sending it in for a flash etc... and i learned how to tune and love doing it i do it for multiple people now... i really think the choice of either is good it just depends on what ur gonna do?

if u are gonna add a few bolt ons get a flash and b done for a long time or completly then i would for sure go with a flash

but if your gonna be adding new parts every few weeks i would look into something along the lines of the utec.

Al is right - the regular interface via serial is not the hottest on the planet, but it is loads better than the interface for the Techtom flash. But, if you want a nice graphical Windows based interface for the UTEC, Bigboogieman made the UTEC Control Center which you can download here.

I didn't think there was a magical formula for creating more power. I figured it all has to do with afr, boost and timing. Both the stock ECU and UTEC can alter those values, so I don't think one is going to make more power versus the other, or am I way off?

With the Dynoflash, you've got Al to tune your car. With the UTEC, it is going to take some work to either learn or to find a qualified tuner, just like Al.

As I said before - IMHO the Dyno Flash and the UTEC serve two different end users.

The flash is a plug and play solution which is a finshed product with no tuning needed.

The UTEC is something you have to configure.

There is really no copmparison.

As I said before - for those who wish to do their own tuning, I grteatly prefer the AEM EMS - but that is just a matter of preference.

There are seperate forums for UTEC and AEM in which this discussion is better taken.
