Al, got question on alky kit before tune

Al, I'm in the process of installing the alky kit. Just received it today . My question is that I'll be driving over 300 miles to meet you for a tune for it so do I just run water in the kit in the mean time or run alcohal and crank boost up a bit or just not hook up power until I get there. What do you recommend? 100% alky, 100% meth, or 50/50? Thanks

100% alky.

Do not alter boost or turn the kit on until you get there.

Thanks for the advice. So it's ok to have the nozzle and kit all hooked up but just don't put alcohal in tank and not hook up power?

if i was u i would jsut keep the fuse power wire disconnected then just put the fuse in when u get there so that the pump doesnt run with nothing going through it(not saying that this is bad cause i dunno the effects)

Man, are you that power hungry man. When you get that alky installed you better go redyno it and give me a test drive.

I have a question along the same lines.

If you hook everything up, incuding filling it with alky, and having it turned on, and you drove it off boost (keeping the revs under 3000RPM) would it use any alky? Would the alky tank stay full?

If it does, I would say hook it all up before driving there. That way you make sure the system dosent leak, and does its function test as well.

This question is for Al, Do you have any kits left? I am think of installing one before you come to D.C in 11 days.

The SMC kit has 2 adjustable settings - at what psi the pump turns on, and at what psi the pump reaches max pressure.
I have mine set at 14/25. So if you stay under the min. pressure, the kit doesn't spray.
When my low light comes on, I switch my HKS EVC to 'A' which is set to 12psi.
I can drive worry free until I get more alky.

I believe both kits are made by SMC for each tuner. They will use the same control unit.

Why do some people mix in water while others go 100% Alky? Is their a benefit either way?

I think it's mainly a cost/performance issue.
Straight alky will reward you with more HP than a mix; using methanol even give more.

The important thing is, whatever mix you decide to use - straight water, washer fluid, alky alone,
alky/water mix, methanol - whatever you get tuned for, you must stick with that choice.
Don't get tuned for washer fluid, then toss in methanol; probably a bad idea.

Good idea

After he checks out the system and sees it working 100% - then just pull the power fuse till you get to me for the tune !

$12.00/gallon. Methanol is cheapear but harder to find. You'll have to go to some kind of shop that sells racing fuel.
