Case Study # 132 - Member Kmcconn9 - Alcohol with 280 cams

I am very pleased that I have finally developed a method to get the 280 cams to idle almost like stock - I will not disclose any details but the member here will surely attest that his idle is amazing

The mods are

93 CT winter gas

Buschur Stage 4
280 / 272 cams
HKS Twin Fire
Buschur Alcohol injection
Custom Buschur Flash

26 psi max falling to 19

This customer would benefot from the 10.5 hot side and ebay 02 housing which he is considering

How much would he benefit w/ a 10.5 hotside and the ebay o2 housing? And was this on a stock BOV?

I have been adjusting the ign timing at idle for a long time

This new development is a new feature for 280 cams - the idle comes out really good

Just for 280 cam guys

NOTHING TO DO WITH IGNITION TIMING WHAT SO EVER

1 G crushed bov

A 10.5 hot side would give at least 10 - 15 more whp

Also the ebay o2 housing would help

Nice work Al! I'm getting my stuff done soon as well.... I'm guesstimating that my numbers should be higher and closer to 400 with a proper tune since my mods are/will be:

1) 3" TBE, no cat, custom air intake
2) HKS EVC 5
3) HKS SSQ BOV
4) AEM EMS with MAF delete, will run speed density
5) HKS 280 int / 280 exh cams
6) cam gears
7) ARP Headstuds
8) Walboro FP
9) SMC V2 trunk mount alky kit with pure methanol
10) colder plugs.

and keeping in mind my EVO is an 05 so I already have the 10.5 hotside. I'm sure I can benefit from the Ebay 02 housing as well...

cheers and keep up the great work. I promise I'll post up my dyno numbers a week or so from now.

i'd also add a wastegate actuator to keep your boost from tapering if your planning to go 25+psi.

With all those mods, HS and O2 would make the torque curve fatter.

If he does add the two and nothing else, it would be neat to put it on the dyno and compare results to this.

Has anyone tested the ebay O2House besides the recent one where uncontrolled boost occurred?

I will be testing the Ebay O2 along with the Buschur ported/coated mani/10.5 and a full retune with before and after dyno results. The only problem is an alky kit running at 25psi with a Forge WGA to eliminate taper may find its way into that equation before the retune.

In the name of science,

work a deal with Al and tune that alcohol kit before the O2 house installation and put on dyno afterwards. This should be funded by the govt JK

Whichever order you choose, it would be neat to see the results in the Drag Racing threads this Spring. The dynograph will be like Kncconn9's and then some
