hks rs intake or k&n drop in?

with dynoflash which one works best. I actually have the hks rs but i am thinking to replace with the k&n drop in. I think that the hks suck to much air an loose some power in high rpm. any recommendation??

I think Al is actually a fan of the RS. Might be a keeper.

With a Dynoflash, the HKS RS works just fine. It's just an expensive piece, but if you already have it, then you can use it with the flash just fine. You also have the option of selling it for a pretty decent price, which would allow you to get a couple of other useful mods, like a test pipe and downpipe.

If you've already got it, use it.

Sell it. Get the Works drop-in filter, then take the rest of the money and purchase either a downpipe, test pipe, or lower intercooler pipe. The stock airbox is good for up to 400 whp, and it brings in cooler air. Not to mention the HKS filter doesnt filter for crap.

Yes, I've seen test results on the HKS filters. They are terrible at filtering out dirt and debris.

i had an HKS intake and took it out to use the airbox again, too much noise for my tastes. i actually think it drives better as well.

I wouldn't suggest the RS in sandy/dusty areas like Arizona. Even where I live sand gets through the element and goes right through ( i've seen debris behind the filter). The dust/debris probably goes right through or deposits in places like IC, intake manif, engine oil - who knows.

I placed a piece of my wifes panty hose over the filter to block as much as I can without restricting.

I thought you should know from someone that runs the intake since you drive your car in dusty conditions.

Sorry for postwhoring but a question here:

Al, I know a year or two ago you've seen a small improvement in WHP near the end on properly tuned HKS RS units, now that you've seen even more come and go, do you still, excluding bad filtration, consider these intakes as improvements, even if mild?
