I think your being very dishonest. You stated your car is modified which voids your warranty but you expect your warranty to cover something you altered. You are trying to rip off the dealership. It's one thing if your cars modified and you have your A/C or something else go wrong but to throw a rod with mods you cant exactly think they will fix it under warranty. As far as them seeing the flash they can and most likely before fixing this they will probably check for a flash they also can see the factors leading up to the engine failure, the parameters I mean there is a function in the ECU which acts like a black box which can tell the dealership what happened. Sorry you had such a big problem like this but you knew when you modded it this could happen hell we all do when we modify know where throwing our warranty out the window. Anyway I hope you get it fixed whichever way and get back to driving your Evo wether your honest or not hey it's up to you.

As far as flashing back to stock, I have heard that the Ecu does a lot of data logging and flashing back to stock with leave the Ecu basically pretty blank it if you drove it fo 15k it will only have saved how ever many miles that you have driven it since getting it back re-flashed back to stock. Which will throw up a flag also if they check your ECU.

Great to hear all I was under the understanding that when flashed back to stock it left a big blank area. I see I was told wrong.
Thanks Al for the info!

Very sad situation

BUT, the cause of the break does not look like it was the flash. I pulled the plugs and there were no signs of running lean on the pistons or plugs. Two of the rods snapped though. The pistons were NOT seized. So, what if this is a bearing failure, and my few mods had nothing to do with the blow? Would mistu realize this and warrenty me anyway even with a boost controller set to the stock boost? NO. which is why it is better to return to stock, so that you do away with Mitsubishi blaming you for something that was not the cause because THEY will lie to save their own $. I hope they DO check for the factors leading up to the blow up. For the 120 miles previously (and probably 500-1000 before that) they will see absolutely nothing.

Best of luck to you in anycase I know it sucks to not have your Evo to drive let alone a possible big$ to fix.I did not mean to super harsh but with any mods you have they are usually sticklers with fixing them under warranty. I agree with the minimal mods you have it would be pretty hard to belive they caused the problem. Also Mitsu does troll on this site So I would change your Location on you Avatar (state, color, member of AutX and Rally team) Because my bro works for them and they do try to find posts with any suspect cars to see if they can find you on here. they will use it against you. Escpecially with you posting that you where going to the track. If I where you I would edit that stuff just in case.
Good luck again!
