Evo IX's Mailed in flash on 91 octane???
I just installed the Buschur Stage 1 and it's tuned for 91 octane. I want to get my 20awhp back. How much of this HP can I get back running 93 octane with the 91 tune? Or does the ECU have to get flashed again to get back any of the lost hp?
Wow, I added some octane booster that should put me at 93 octane. I drove around a little to mix up the tank. Then I made a pass on my gTech and put down 23 more hp and 25 more tq. I think I'm not going to need another flash.

Some of us guys run Torco here in AK. It's basically an octane booster. I figure if we have 90 oct. here in AK might as well get a 91 flash. But since I run Torco mostly all the time I might as well get a 93 flash.
When I had my wrx and a utec, I was running a 93 flash. When I ran torco the car pulled strong. But w/ 90 oct it was crap. So same theory w/ the evo, I'll just turn the boost down if I have crap 90 oct.
And yes I'm sure you'll need another flash for 93.

Just go with the 93octane map...I know that I'll go with that when I get my Flash. Getting a 90 octane tune is useless and a waste of money IMO. For race nights just mix some race gas and call it a day..very simple stuff. Besdies the Ecu compensates for part throttle so unless your driving out of control around town you should be fine running the 93 tune on 91 octane.
10 fl of torco added to 14gal of 90 octain gas should be around 91.5 to 92.5 octain. flash to 91 or 92 octain would be fine, but i would not push more then 92 octain flash with out additional amount of torco.
With or without mods,it is good to add some torco in our sh***y 90octain we got
in this state,(gas stations around town call 90octain as Super premium gas!!!)
What a backward a** state we live in.....

How much do you pay for that 90 octane gas?
If torco's crap, then what's better & safer.. Any input fellas? Also, how much of it would you put in? Lastly, I use Chevron gas, does that make any real difference specially if your gonna use additives?.....

This is Justin...if you run 11oz per 10 gallons you should be at 93 octane. Just use that as your measurement.
This is what I'll be running when Al does my tune.
The Torco can says if you have 93 octane and and a full can 32oz to a 10 gallon tank, then you should be running 104. So that is basically raising it 11 octane points.
So in other words if you divide the can by thirds (32oz/3) = 10.66oz. And if you divide the 11 octane points by thirds = 3.66 octane points.
Therefore if you filled your tank w/ 10 gallons of 90octane, and used 10.66/11oz of Torco, then it should raise your octane by 3.66. That would equal about 93.66 octane.
Hope this equation helped.
Justin
Man, I hope you guys aren't relying on Torco to up your octane. Please, please just use small amounts of race gas. You do not want to be running Torco mixtures for the life of your car.
Also, dakind, you are saying that one quart of Torco can raise octane as much as 10 gallons of 115oct gas? I know the can says that, but are you sure that is really the case? That's an unbelievably huge gain in octane for only a quart of fluid. It's hard to imagine a quart of fluid equaling the effect of 10 GALLONS (40 quarts) of 115oct fuel.
