setup with alky?

basically i will soon have in order the following

tbe
alky
cams
walbro 255
forge mbc

i was wondering what you suggest al, if i get this with a dynoflash if i can run the jdm mr bov or should i upgrade to the forge rs dv? i think with the alky i would be running at 25psi-ish? can i safely run that on the jdm mr bov? thanks.

also if anyone could tell me the basic function of alky, where to get all that ****, etc. that would be cool, because i havent ordered the alky yet . i know i can search for it, but im at work and running a very very slow 56k or 28k not sure lol. thanks guys. later.

You can get the alky at any home improvement store! its called denatured alcohol. Its about 11 bucks a gallon. It basically lets you turn up your boost.........keeps detanation temperatures down, and it cleans your spark plugs and combustion chambers!

You will be running more than 25psi daily with the alky, and the JDM MR DV, though awesome, begins to leak at the 24-25psi point. I had one myself and loved it, but when I went to alky, I switched to the Forge RS DV for maximum boost holding ability. I suggest you do the same and either sell the MR DV for a decent price or keep it spare like I do just in case.

I won't tell you to search, but you can find a nice FAQ write-up in the water/alky injection forum. Just go in there and read the stickied post for more details, but you can either get methanol (cheaper, but harder to find) or denatured alcohol (more expensive but very easy to find - Home Depot carries it by the gallon can).

Well, if you get the progressive SMC kit with the smaller 7lph nozzle, then get Al's tuning, you will not use much alky at all. You also won't be at the crazy edge of danger, but you will make 90% of the power while retaining most of the safety margin.

With this SMC kit, I have a 1-gallon trunk-mounted, hidden alky tank, and I only re-fill that 1-gal once per 2 weeks, which is about once per 2 full gas tanks.

Also, I've used my alky on the road course, and my alky lasted a LOT longer than expected despite absolutely ravaging my car at full boost for lap after lap after lap. In a standard 20-min session, I'd go through less than half a tank (half a gallon).

You can usually get VP methanol in 5 gallon cans at your local speed shops that sell race gas. $25-30 a can.
Its even cheaper in 55 gallon drums, but i have no easy way to transport a 300lb drum home.

Does the AMS WI work with AL's flash in place of the SMC kit? I might just go with the SMC kit but just want to know anyway?

I am sure he can tune in any type of water/alky kit that you can get.

Yeah, the kit doesn't matter.

Just to add to this. When I get my system dynoflashed with an AMS WI kit.

Should I run straight alcohol? 50/50 with water?
What happens if I don't refill the tank?
How does the dynoflash react with lowering the boost of the car when in failsafe?

If Warrtalon sees this maybe post some information on everything you do with your alky kit and dynoflash. Thanks. later.

No mail-in flashes for alky.

Use 100% denatured alcohol or 100% methanol.

Don't refer to it as a WI (water injection) kit if you are planning to run alcohol. Water injection is for water only.

If you don't refill the tank and continue boosting at 26psi with an alky tune, you will run extremely lean and detonate the motor.

I don't understand the low boost/failsafe question.

On my car, I run 100% denatured alky 24/7 all the time in every situation. I am tuned for it so that even if my kit fails, I won't kill the motor immediately, so as long as I notice it has stopped working, I can stop boosting and check things out. I run around 26psi on 93oct+alky, I don't start spraying until 17-18psi, I don't hit max spray until 26psi, I have a 7lph nozzle for conservation, and I'm tuned in the low-to-mid 11s.
