My Tales From the Dyno! Bittersweet, But Something Wrong?

Ok guys, I just got my custom tune, and before I continue this is not bashing anybody or nothing I am jus in here trying to look for answers of what could be "wrong" if anything with my car.....The custom took place Saturday....I have my own wideband which AL tells me its off its not readin correctly, its about 2/3's of a point off....I said cool, I will look into it and recalibrated two days later...BUT car ran "fine" that day according to ALs wideband and mine still read a little into mid 12s....two days later I started noticing the a/fs a little up there compared to what they were before....in the low 12s....I thought my wideband is still off so I went to go Dyno where I could get a wideband readin as well and see if it is off or not...I go there and I get 3 pulls and numbers are below as you can see I am very happy with the numbers first pull was 384whp 392 tq boost peaks at 28 psi drops down to like 24 at redline....But what I am not happy about is the A/F which which on my wideband read what their wideband was readin, so I am a little puzzled here not sure what is going on, I am running pump gas 93 oct with 100% VP methanol...I dont get it because sometimes the a/f does stay at 11.6...11.7 but most of the time it does into the low to mid 12s.....any help would be greatly appreciated AL or anyone...Im not trying to blame anyone or anything, I am just trying to figure out whats going on.....thanks in advance for any help.....

Do you have a Walbro fuel pump as well or still running on the stocker?

You can run leaner with methanol.

I understand you can run leaner but 13.4 a/f at peak I think is really unsafe.....even mid 12s is too high in my opinion I think, I dont know I could be wrong but any1 here think that a/f is too high???

Oh wow I said what I said without looking at the graph. That is a bit lean.

in my limited experience widebands and methanol don't seem to get along very well... seems to throw off the readings

I think the issue on your car is getting an accurate and consistant a/f reading

As one member above noted often it is difficult to get consistant numbers with the
methanol - especially if you have any slight misfire going on

MOST if not all dyno jet wideband a/f readings are about 4/10th of a point on the lean side - I know this as I tune on them avery day

In any event - I am happy to make your car a bit richer if you like - not a problem - PM me for details

The car is making great power and the dyno sheet is very smooth - I dont think the dyno plot could look better than it does - its really making great low end power and a smooth curve - good showing

BTW - please do a "free air" calibration on your wideband the directions are in the Innovate manual - the a/f gauge must come out of the car for this procedure

See if that effects your a/f readings

AL and others thanks for your opinions and thoughts....When I did recalibrate the wide I let the car sit all night, and then I removed the sensor from the DP and recalibrated that way....So I do think it was off before, but when I recalibrated it was readin exactly how the what the dyno was readin as well...I really just hope that its just that consistancy issue of gettin an accurate A/F on the car because as mentioned above....sometimes at WOT it reads in the mid 11s....AL I wanna see a couple more things before we try to make it a little richer, because I LOVE the power and the graph is awesome! But I am willing to sacrifice some for margin of safety, thanks again for the help

I dont think we will loose any power going 1/2 a point richer in fact it will prob pick up a bit

I would suggest we go 1/2 point richer to be on the save side

Some questions for you, BigLEVO:
- which wideband do you have?
- Where and how is the wideband sensor mounted (e.g. direction of sensor, before/after cat, etc.)?
- Have you ever run leaded racegas with your wideband installed?
- How old is the sensor?
- Did you change the lambda multiplier on your wideband (assuming it is from Innovate)?

If you did not change the lambda multiplier, then you should be reading in the mid-11s at WOT when you're spraying meth. Anything much above that and, as the saying goes ... ye pays yer money and takes yer chances.

Have you considered that the inconsistent AFR readings may also be due to inconsistent meth injection?

What size injector nozzle are you running w/ the methanol? I was just tuned as well and I'm making great power. My wideband is reading on the leaner side of things (high 11's) but I'm not too worried about it unless the SMC kit takes a crap on me. I already have two new kills under my belt (Ferrari F430 and cammed LS1)
