I just lowered my stationary rev to 6500rpm and confirmed that the VSS needs to read -0- to be stationary
We all have that starter clutch switch. I have had mine disconnected since I first bought the Evo.
Yah, there was no question that you must be stationary. You launch at 6500rpm? Wow.

Who said you were lying? I said 05/06s have a switch, and this guy has an 06, therefore he HAS to have the clutch in for the limiter to work - that includes when the car has the stock 5k limiter AND when it's Dynoflashed. I know, because I was one of the first people to test the Dynoflash launch control, and sometimes at the track, I disconnect it so that I can launch normally.
I don't know of any factory rev limiter switch, so I don't know how to disconnect that. Under my dash, there are 3 switches: 1) starter switch, 2) cruise control (not used obviously), and 3) launch limiter (5k switch). When I disconnect #3, I have no launch control whatsoever, because I have an 05.

I had this problem happen today. I flashed the ECU for the first time, the clutch switch is disconnected, and it worked for about 20 seconds with the car not moving and the E-brake on. (Not 20 seconds continuously, repeated testing since I only had it set at 3500.) After that 20 second period of it working fine, the car would then free rev, and it was absolutely not moving.
Any ideas? I'm using v 1.28.

It can go away if you keep doing it over and over. YOu should reset the battery, set the launch control where it's supposed to be (3500 is too low and causes it to bounch laboriously).
Also, what do you mean by "clutch switch"? In the post right above you, I said there were 3 switches and gave the description of each. Which one did you say was disconnected? I'm guessing it wasn't the 3rd one.

I disconnected the one that is closed at the bottom of the clutch pedal's travel. I fully realize that 3500 is too low to use for launching - I only picked that rpm to test whether it would work or not. I had disconnected that switch due to "crankwalk" fears since I'm an old DSM-head. :-)
That's the starter switch, so it has no effect on your launching. It just lets you crank the car without pushing in the clutch. YOu know what it's for apparently based on your crankwalk reference...there is a completely different switch related to the launch limiter. It's up much higher behind the dash...
Very interesting, thanks for the accurate info. So the pedal doesn't need to be depressed fully for the 2-step to activate? Definitely different from my dsm experience. Thanks again.
