You noticed a difference when you installed a MBC and set it at the STOCK (stock is 20.3psi) level but didn't notice the flash? Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

Fuel pump is needed on an 8, but not on a IX (even though it's "recommended"). You set you MBC to wherever it's tuned for (for instance, my ECU is tuned for 23psi, so my MBC is set at 23psi). I chose to have it at 23. It's your choice where it gets set at, just make sure whoever is tuning your ECU knows where you want it so it's tuned right.

Tony (thought this was common knowledge)

"Everyone knows" that on a Normally Aspirated engine "back pressure" is used for scavenging, it's not used to make power directly. The low pressure area after the explosion sucks in the next intake charge, you want to create velocity with pipe diameter - add garden hose example here

Not sure why peeps don't get that all the backpressure you could ever "need" is in the turbo. Heck, turbo design is just as or more involved than engine design.

Turbos are pressure differential devices, your engine is a convenient heat pump to create a "waterfall" of sorts via heat. The bigger the pressure differential the quicker the turbo is going to build boost (as in 40psi on compression and 0-3psi on exit - it's like physics 101, where's the pressure going to go?), the quicker a turbo builds boost the more torque/power you have.

People get their butt dynos confused... It like it when peeps believe the whole BP on a turbo thing - I'll let em read my license plate
