Yes, it would be cool to see how fast he could go on his own reflash.

No, he should stick with the AEM standalone and try to catch AMS, Buschur, & others.

Poll: Should Al use a Dynoflash on his own car?
I am undecided what to do with my car
My immediate goal is to obtain my NHRA 9 second license - I have all the saftey gear and a certified cage now and my medicals done so all I need to do now is the license test passes. I want to do that before the tracks close for winter.
As for records - NO ONE is going to beat David and Dan Buschur now that they are FINALLY motivated and dedicated to being #1 again. Simply put I do not have the bank roll, facility or talent to compete with them - they are the best.
One area where my car may shine is in organized sanctioned race classes for street sportsman class cars. I enjoy racing and that is the function for my evo. I have a basement filled with plaques, thropies and magazine articles to show for it.
As for going fast on a reflash - I have a little project I am working on with a certain addition to my garage . . . . . I call it Project STI. (Everyone needs a fast grocery getter). We'll see how that develops.
As for fast Evos on reflashes - I went 11.1 with my reflash ages ago with my car and now I have a Buschur Stage 2 Evo IX on stock turbo which went 11.56 (pump gas tune). There are dozens of other daily driver Dyno Flashed stock turbo/block which have run in the 11's on my tuning.
Just to add that NONE of then have had any engine related failures to the best of my info.

One more thing to consider which has not been mentioned
I have many very suportive sponsors - wiothout who's generous support I could NOT afford to continue with my car
Buschur Racing
Buschur Automotive
Exedy Clutch
Shep Trans
Pruven Performance
AEM
Ferrea Valves
Pauter Rods
Drive Shaft Shop
Marren Motorsports
I do not think any of these sponsors would be interested in watching me go 10 seconds with a Dyno Flash on a maxed out stock ecu
They are intersted in seeing me win races and get in more magazines - this is what can help them sell parts which justifies their investment in my car

Smogger, does have a point though. Al sells reflashes, so why not be the best on a reflashed ECU??
Or how bout this, keep the AEM, just tune it yourself. I mean you are one of the leading tuners in America & AEM certified, why not tune your own car??? It seems that the crediability you would get would offset the power you may (or may not) lose.
Also I dont think many are gonna consider your 10sec STi when buying a flash for their Evo.

Pruven just finsihed a Evo IX with a GT35 so I may talk to that customer to see what he wants to do with that car
Seeeing as he also has a GT42R Evo 8 Pruven is now building with a HKS V pro - I am not so sure he wants to play about with reflashes - but I can always ask him
Remember guys the stock ecu is a wonderful device and has a lot of powerful daily driver features available to make a car fast / reliable and run like stock
However - when you get up to the 900 whp range - its silly to even think about the stock ecu
I would say that in the 450 whp and below range of power the stock ecu is ideal - which is conicidentally the limit where I like to draw the lines for how hard to push a daily driver stock short block
Anyone who wants to go over that level should start to think about a built bottom end and a stand alone ecu
