Yes, it would be cool to see how fast he could go on his own reflash.

No, he should stick with the AEM standalone and try to catch AMS, Buschur, & others.

Al, unless you are going after Buschur, AMS, Curt Brown, and Dan Bajalais to claim fastest 1/4 mile USDM Evo honors, why not try something new and go after the fastest OEM ECU record? I know it is one of those kinda lame titles people make fun of, like "fastest 1/4 mile with a catalytic converter" but still, it is fully appropriate for your business and I think folks would respect you taking this approach.
People are always giving you crap about other people tuning your AEM. I think it would be cool to see you run (for example) a 10.2 at 138mph on the stock ECU. It would certainly shut up your detractors.
I personally think it would be good for your business to see what you could do. I set up a poll to see what others think about this subject. How fast do you think you could go?

Thats totally unreasonable considering the time and money he has invested into his car. there is no way a stock ecu in it's current tunning range couls ever support a 42r not to mention his cam and manifold choice.

Al, I wouldn't blame you for questioning my motives for starting this thread, but they aren't to bash you in any way. I actually am sincere that it would be cool to what you could with a reflash.

Well hold on. Before answering this I would like an answe as to what goal Al is shooting for? Its been daily driver full out race car back and forth a good few times, set the record straight Al, race car or street car? If its not a full built race car street car makes more sense... Isnt OBD2 compliance on cars our year a requirement in every state?

I think considerable power could be made with the flash and im surprised he didnt go further than he did before switching to the AEM. The limiting factor would be scaling down the approprate injectors(i think 1000cc is the max) and the flow capabilities of the stock MAF.I think he should do it on a lucky customers car, it would be a great project to follow.
I seriously shat myself after reading this thread. First off.... its too risky to do this to a "lucky customer" and second, Al's car is way out of the league of the stock ecu.
Tiime to move along and forget this thread.

On the other hand, Al could make quite a name for himself and his product if he took reflashing performance to the highest level... It would also assure his customers that he has taken the ECU to its outer limits and knows the exact limitations of it.
I dunno, I'm already overly impressed with the work hes done on his safe mail in reflashes. I put my car on the dyno after his mail in reflash and everything was superb. I was shocked at how well it did, and not only were the A/F numbers perfect, I also had the highest numbers of the night for a mostly stock Evo at the Evo/STi dyno day here locally.
Call me crazy, but thats some pretty damn convincing tuning right there.
