Flashing - Filter + Exhaust?

Hi Al-

I'm torn between ordering a filter, and/or ordering a filter + TBE before sending in for a mail flash. Do you recommend getting the K&N drop-in before sending in for a flash?

As far as TBE's go.. I'm considering a used Buschur or maybe even a Megan Racing. Will I see as much improved gains with the flash after exhaust, vs stock with a flash?

Thanks!

The exhaust doesn't have much effect on the flash. You can do them independently and see gains - together the gains are no different. The filter should not be a big issue - it's $60 mod that does very little and that doesn't affect the tune. Get it...don't get it...get it before the flash...get it after the flash...it doesn't matter. It's insigifnicant.

Get the TBE and flash, but don't forget to get an MBC, BOV, and fuel pump, since you have an VIII. You will get big gains with all of that, but just the exhaust and flash won't get you where you want to be.

Hes trying to hep you out with some useful information...Assuming you want to be a little higher than the 245whp you have right now Id take his knowledge and use it wisely... Goodluck and get a test pipe too if you dont care about emissions. You'll see a significant gain over a cat.

My assumption is that you want to be at the highest power point possible for the least money spent without sacrificing any reliability or drivability. I sometimes make poor assumptions.

It really kills me that someone tries to help someone, (in this case Warrtalon who has been a great help to me), with very good advice and they receive a steaming pile of ish in return.

Oh well, I give a +10 to what Warrtalon said and if that isn't good enough go figure it out yourself.

I would get them before the tune and if you cant at least get it before Have Al set up your mail tune for those mods for when you can get them. As far as your #'s I have the exact set up your thinking of going for K&N drop in turbo back exaust with test pipe and the one thing you dont have which is a Hallman Evolution MBC all this with Al's tuning got me 297whp and 318tq on a dynojet. Big thumbs up to Al/Dynoflash
Best of luck

Wow.. what a thread for a simple question, which never got answered by the intended recipient.

How long has Al been doing flashes for? Quite a while. I'm sure that the differences of his VIII tune two years ago has gone through some revamping, some changes and tweaks in that time frame.

The overall jist of the question revolved around, do you seem similar HP/$ spent with a mail-in flash on a stock car as you might on a slightly modified one. Spending $200 for a flash that produces X is of greater interest to me than spending more money on a filter, exhaust, MBC, fuel pump and whatever else I need to get over 300hp.

I've got less desire to modify my car what-so-ever, but do enjoy making it a bit quicker. So, if I spent 500 on a used exhaust, 80 for a filter, 100 or so depending on the type of BC, and another 80 for a fuel pump, and mail in for flash will I see the same HP/$ spent?

I don't need 300hp. I don't need a new exhaust. I don't need a new fuel pump. (ETC.) You could argue, well sh*t I don't need the flash either. That's why you ask questions.

Regardless, if you don't like my question don't reply. That goes to all the morons who think 'Evolved Member' means a thing to me.

My response was joking to Warrtalon, I figured the laughing smiley portrayed that emotion. Apparently I missed the class on how to properly use them.

Would love you to point out the 'steaming pile of ish' he was given.
