Question Air to Fuel Ratio regarding my tune.

Well now that it's finally getting nice here, I've had time to install my AEM UEGO wideband. Anyways, during WOT it always goes down to like 10.0 right away as soon as I floor it, which I think is off the gauge which seems really rich, and then as the RPM's climb it reaches about 11.3-11.4 at redline. It pretty much does the same thing in all gears. Is this OK? I have heard it should go richer as the RPM's climb, meaning it should start at 11.xx and go down to 10's at redline, which mine is the complete opposite. Do you think my APS BOV could be making it run rich between shifts? Is something wrong with my tune, or should everything be fine? Thanks for any help.

The AEM gauge usually does not read lower than 11.1 / 1

If its in the high 10's or 11.0 then slightly rises to 11.3 or 4 at read line its good

if its in the low 10's its too rich down low

It says it reads 10.0 to 18.5 in the manual. Its deffinitley reading low 10's at lower RPM's, is this OK? you tuned my car Al, so what's up? I have not changed anything except adjusted my MBC slightly for temp changes. I will try to take a video with camera phone if that will help.

A lot of AEM gauges I have seen stop reading below 11.1 a/f

If the digital gauge is reading " - - - - " as it dips below 11.1 that is what I am describing

If its is reading actual low 10's in certain areas it may be a bit on the rich side

I will be in chicago this weekend of you can come by I would like to look at it

I used to have a older AEM gauge and they read only to 11.0, the new ones with the plugs in the back (old ones wires came right out of gauge no plugs) read down to 10.0 my old one only read 11.0 on the AEM EMS as well. Your tune is good man, i think al knows what hes doing

The latest AEM wideband guages go down to 10.0 now. They've also added a new small harness that connects to the back of the guage as well. Makes it a lot easier to wire into the car or if you have to send the gauge in for repair.

My car is also rich right now... 10.0-10.2 through most of WOT. I believe it has to do with a problem with my methanol injection when I got my custom tune. I got that fixed and, I will be having Al re-custom tune mine next Tucson trip.

FYI - the first symptom of boost leaks are slightly rich a/f as metered air escapes from the system leaving extra injector on time which has been metered

if your car is running slight rich check the charging system with a pressurized boost leak test

Maybe I should check my clamps. My car sat all winter undriven, so perhaps the temp differences caused the clamps to loosen, even though I upgraded all my clamps. I have the newer AEM gauge. I am about to go for a little cruise and test a couple things. For the most part my car pulls like a ****, I think the gauge might just have a little bit of lag before it reads correctly. I am only getting 10.0 reading when I downshift and hammer the gas, or just hammer the gas without downshifting, depending on the RPM I am at. My main conern was the A/F increased to about 11.3-11.4 at redline, and if this fine, then I'm not going to worry about it.

If your running 11.3-11.4 at redline you should have a big smile on your face. That is just about perfect at redline.

.

I hate my AEM UEGO gauge. It's one of the first ones that came out and only reads from 11.0 and above. I also question it's accuracy because it reads "---" up until near redline which it flashes 11.6-11.8 right before I shift.

I'm with you there bro.... anyone with FI needs better than 11.0 for their wideband. Thankfully they addressed that on their new units. Im VERY happy with my new one.

I never though of this,
good piece of info

Maybe thats why I get a small dip in A:F at peak pressure

Your AFRs sound perfect to me.
Probably goes rich for a moment because you suddenly put the car under load.

11.3-11.4 is perfect up top.

Your AFR's sound good to me also, it is commen for tuners to run the car rich under load so that when the turbo is spooling the car does not knock.
