Ps. Make sure you don't loose the ball. LOL

I've taken it apart twice now. Everything seems to be ok, the spring was seated properly, etc... I'm about to give up...sigh

Your problem sounds wastegate related. Check that. If you have already, then that sucks. My advice to both you guys, bite the bullet and drop your cars off at a shop so someone can go through it thoroughly. It'll probably be 2-3 hours of labor but at least you will know what your problems are.

My car is a 06 IX with a hair over 5k miles on it. The wastegate isn't that old and I have only taken it off of the turbo once to make room to get my hands in there to install the Buschur LICP.

Is there a way to tell if the wastegate is bad? Or to test it off of the car?

Also....the how to and BR have different opinions on how the Forge MBC should be installed. Does the vac line running off of the wastegate go into the side or the bottom of the MBC? EvoM howto says side, BR says bottom. I honestly don't remember which way I had it installed before I did the FMIC. All I know is that it worked and worked well before the install.

Thanks!!!
Did you remove the wastegate rod when you put an 02 housing on ?

Did you remove the rod and then see if the wastegate is mvoing open and closed freely ?

It sounds to me that your wastegate is not opening fully

It could be either an adjustment issue or it could be a interefence issue

I can't keep this thing under 20 psi.

I have NOT installed my fuel pump yet, do you think the car is running out of fuel maybe and hitting fuel cut? The thing that bothers me is that I do not have any control over boost anymore no matter what I do.

I'm trying to get hold of another MBC to try out.

Anymore ideas people? Al? Thanks....
If you were hitting 20 psi with the hose hooked up directly to the wastegate then its NOT a MBC issue

I would try to adjust the length of the rod to try and get the gate to open more and see what effect that has

Yes I pulled it off when installing my o2 housing...it went back on and everything was fine. A couple of weeks later I pulled it off while doing the FMIC install to get access to the outlet pipe.

Last night I ran a vac line hooked from my air compressor into the wastegate at a low psi level and the rod seems to move freely. I checked the wastegate flapper on the turbo and it moved freely as well.

Today we did a pressure check on the entire system at 30 psi and everything seems ok and no leaks. I installed a cheapo home depot MBC and turned it down all the way. It acted just like running a line right into the wastegate. My Forge unit on the other hand is the exact opposite. I will be installing a new Forge unit at the dyno on Saturday to see what it does.

I want to get her tuned at 22-23 psi. I'm thinking the fuel pump and a tune might help the issue. I'll try and adjust the actuator arm on the wastegate once it cools down.

Thanks Al and let me know what else you think it may be.

Update:

I just lengthened the wastegate actuator arm two threads to see if that would help. Still the same thing. I don't want to lengthen it anymore in fear of having the flapper not seal correctly.
