Dave - totaled my evo (questions)

Ya, I know, it sucks.

Dave, I need to part her out and I would like to pull the map in case I get a new IX, how do I access the map you constructed for me. I have the adapter thingy, but I don't have the software or knowledge to pull the map.

If anybody else has this answer, please feel free to respond.

thanks!

Every car is different, you'll need a new map for the new car. I wouldn't use a map from another car on your new IX.

Like already stated every car is different so unless it was a stock IX and you replace it with a stock IX or the cars have identical mods etc I wouldn't use the old map.

In any case, if you do wish to "pull" the map off the totaled car. You will need to download the program ECUFlash. Search here or google for it, but I believe the website is something like www.openecu.org. Hook up your cable to the computer and car, open the program, select model of car, turn key to on position, and you will see at the top several icons. Click the one that says read from ECU and now you have it on your laptop. Just make sure when you go to file save to add one of these two file extensions to the end of it-- .hex OR .bin

When you get the your new Evo you will need to also get the factory tune off of that vehicle and save it just in case of problems and you will need something out of it (don't forget to add file extension to the end). Open up that tune and you will see your immobilizer code over in the listings to the left. This number will HAVE to be put into your old tune or the car will NOT run!

I've never tried doing that from vehicle to vehicle but I assume it should work providing there are not different types of ECUs in some compared to another, but it's worth a shot. Really straight forward and shouldn't take too long.
