That is certainly been the most common approach

I want to develop a Stage I - IV for the stock motors and a turbo package

I am sure that there will be many who like the small size of the car and yet want it to move a bit faster

My dream is to see one doing a wheely

Do you really think there is a market for these products for the smart car? Most owners are elderly or very environmentally conscious, and most of the modded ones seem to be done my shops just looking for something to grad peoples attention

I don't think the project will be good. some notes, smart car is 1,852 lbs, Yes you can gut the car out make it lighter. But then you have to think of this. Wheelbase 73.5 inches & Track width front/rear 50.51 inches/54.53 inches. say hello to unstable.

But on 2nd thoughts its a good car for you because for such a little car as it is i think its the only car that small that you would fit into conferrable.

Then you would need a software writer to hack up the stock ecu on that thing too. unless you going to go and just put in a bike motor. which i think thats the easy way out, and you should keep there motor and just tho on a ko3 turbo or ko4.

then on 2nd thought of the motor, you may spend lot of money and go no were with that way. so just go get a bike motor turbo it and make 200-500hp and be done. Just be careful with that think LOL. need a wheel bar HAHA.

If you made a bunch of money of of mod hungry customers sending them flashes what would you do with it?

Al would build a boosted Smart..... Not my move but it takes innovators to change things, I am intrigued by this project, I hope he follows through as it will be the quintessential sleeper.

i am pretty sure they already make them some of them turbo. also busa motor swaps aren't far away. a friend of mine almost bought one just to put one of his turbo busa motors into it, but he wouldn't be able to have a passenger so it didnt buy one. It probably wouldn't take as much as most people on here are saying to get that thing to move. It is RWD!! Al here is a site for you http://www.ecoautoinc.com/smart.php

oh and they already have a really neat one coming out the forfun2. it is really cool. i was looking at these just yesterday. I am very interested in getting a smart car, but I would probably just put some big wheels on it, black out the windows, and enjoy the gas mileage

Al - Stick to your EVO and EVO Tuning
The new Smart is a waste of time and $$$$$ at 2000lbs it’s a tough start even under boost - now if you want to play the right way go buy an 2005 Smart (450) they are sold in the states (gray market) and are exempt from smog testing @ 1285lbs
Here is why you do not see to many Smart 450 by the time its registered and titled “22k” compared to the Smart 451 12-17k and the 451 has dealer support the 450 does not.
For all of you saying do busa swap because you have seen the same old video passed around the net like my ***** lawyer Kim – Stop - do your research the swap is not as easy and as cheap as you think. Sure you can take away the passenger seat and add a busa motor maybe total price of 5k installed and its not useable – “so lets get real” maybe for a track car this would work but it would never work driving down a Los Angeles street.
Here is how it is
I own a 450 Smart and will be starting A GSXR 1000 swap this weekend… here is a list of parts and a few pics the total price of the swap including the car will be around 55-60k and my plan is to run natural for a few months then turbo. Keep in mind that the US dollar sucks right now and shipping and duties was about 3k

1.) 2005 Smart (450)
2.) Sub Frame, diff, brakes, clutch, and many other parts from Smartuki.com
3.) GSXR 1000
4.) GSXR wire harness and sub harness
5.) Power commander and ignition module
6.) AIM Sport Digital Cluster
7.) Lager from wheels
8.) Custom body panel to fit the larger wheels
9.) Install and custom fab
10.) Clean up interior

If you ask, why I am wasting my money to do this swap? Well the EVO was the true waste of time I was pulled over every FuNkn light for some kind of MOD. I drive one of the fast production cars and have one of the fast vehicles for the street so its just my way to stay low key and have fun so I don’t need to know how you would spend 50k “OK” keep it to yourself…
I will post more pics as we install

The Smart in Europe is HUGE. Little funny cars and they really show that are actually Mercedes Benz!

My cousin owns one. Plenty of upgrades like ecu, bov, intake, exhaust etc and from its 0.6 liter turbo engine he has around 100-105 bhp from the original 65 bhp... Even the gearbox software is upgraded to change gears faster...

An amazing little city car...

Looks like a lot of fun. I say go for it. If you blow the original engine, you could always go busa... Either way you should put a baby on board sign in the back window when you're done and take it to a track for total pride annihilation.
