I am writing from El Salvador where I have just been on a wild adventure with the DEA!

There is a big Import Drag Race this weekend at a new drag track here and I am here in town to help prepare the Subaru team to compete against the Hondas and also there is a famous Honda Tuner here Eric Racing from CA preparing the Hondas

One of my customers here has two Subarus - one a road racing car which just won a big road race event here and the other a drag car

Sadly the Drag Car suffered some serious problems in testing and was out of action

With my local partner Auto Works we hatched a plan to quickly transfer some of the go fast goodies to the road racing car and get it up to speed to compete in the big drag event and represent the Subaru team. The master techs at Auto Works sprung into action to take a lot of the stuff from the drag car and get it into the road race WRX overnight a team of 3 techs worked without sleep till 2:00 p.m. this afternoon

Apparently some of the opposing Honda fans were at the facility attending the Honda dyno tuning and someone got the really evil idea to contact the El Salvador DEA by phone and lfalsely notify them that a large shipment of narcotics was being transported in my customer's car to the testing track I use to tune the cars

It really makes me ill inside to think that someone is so evil and twisted to turn a fun racing event into some sort of a vendetta but sadly it appears that someone wanted to prevent my customer from making the event

The customer's car was being transported on a flat bed to the road racing track to meet me for tuning when they pulled up a team of DEA agents with machine guns confronted them and placed everyone under arrest

Shortly thereafter, I arrived with my host and was also detained at gun point

I was sitting there on the ground, being guarded my a nervous looking guy with a machine gun, thinking WTF am I doing here? In America we take our rights too lightly. Probable cause is not needed in El Salvador to take your car apart on a fishing trip for drugs. You have the right to Shut TFU and sit quietly till they are good and ready to let you go.

They took my passport and ID and put everyone on ice, taking keys, phones and id's all the way around.

Thats when the fun started as we had to wait for a couple of hours for a tream of two drug sniffing dogs and 4 mechanics to arrive by van to take apart everyone's car to search for drugs

My poor customer then arrived on the scene to check out the progress with his car and he was also detained and searched

These mechanics literally tear your car apart and look in every door pannel - and anywhere you can hide some drugs

After a few hours of this, and no evidence of any drugs to be found, they let us all go and we parted from the DEA with hand shakes and admiration for a team of really hard working and professional guys

Its a shame that who ever made the false phone call wasted the time of at least 10 DEA agents and two dogs to conduct a useless search just to try and prevent us from getting my customer's car completed

By the time this was over it was after sun set and the track operator refused to let us come in to do our testing

A few $ exchanged hands and some negotiatoions and we were on the totally dark road racing track to tune the 02 WRX with Gt35 turbo to try and make it a fast Drag Car

After a lot of passes back and forth I produced a approx 500 whp machine on pump gas and methanol at 29 psi of boost.

The customer then proceeded to test the car down the track and he took off like gang busters in 1st 2nd and 3rd and when he shifted to 4th the transmission exploded like a bomb

Sadly, he will not be reprsenting Subaru at the event but we have another customer here who will

I just wanted to share a day in my life with you guys. This is what happens when haters want to spoil your fun and play some tricks.

Now that the DEA guys see that it was all part of a plan to prevent us from getting ready for the race, they say they are going back to visit the individual who gave them the crime stopper drug "tip" - what comes around goes around I guess!

All in a hard days work.

All I could do was text message as they wouldnt let anyone make any calls - I asked all my friends to contact the American Embassy here for me if they did not hear from me in an hour or so

I tell you, I thought I had seen everything in the tuning world - this proves you never know it all. Who would have imagined such a sick plan?

I was actually expecting that they may have planted some evidence and arrested us all - but lucily they were very honest police guys and very professional and just doing their part on the war on drugs

Apparently El Salvador is a major transport area for cocaine from Columbia to enter Guatamala and then to Mexico

Wow Al that is crazy. I would have been so pissed off. One attempt after another to stop you guys from racing. Damn HONDA BOYS! Anyway glad you made it out okay and sorry to hear about the cars. I guess it wasnt meant to be?

There is a good side and a bad side to everything in life. I like to try and focus on the positive side when I can and certianly this was evidence that our WAR ON DRUGS at least has some action going on down there in El Salvandor. Those DEA agents are very serious about finding drugs and took the complaint very seriously.

I don't know if there is any way to stop the drug problem, its a huge mess really and certainly for Central American countries and Mexico is a real nightmare.

These guys are very serious about it



As law abiding citizens of course I like to see law enforcement directed at real criminals and honestly it was very satisfing to see some real police work.

The ones who I really can't stand are the cops in LA who pick on those who want to modify their cars and give out speeding tickets instead of focusing on the real criminals.

Those DEA guys in El Salvador are all action.

Apperantly, this whole thing is going to back fire big time on the rats who made the false charges against us as the DEA is working to disclsose their identiy and there is some form of civil law **** for slander you can bring in that country to sue someone who implicates you falsely in a criminal activity as a malicious attack.

Things sometimes have a way or woking out for the best.

Wow Al, that is absolutely freaking crazy. I'm glad you made it out of there without a hole in you somewhere. I don't even know what to say about it. Glad you're OK is the main thing that comes to mind. **** on the haters is the 2nd.
