while i agree with your point, there are plenty of ways to make it as safe as possible.

find an empty highway (usually late at night), do a quick 3rd gear pull (lasting seconds, less with more power) for logging, get off the freeway, mess with the laptop, repeat if necessary...done.

I don't think most professional tuners tune on a street, I believe they tune on a track.

What about last year on Buschur's Dyno? Wasn't that ur EVO?

if im not mistaken... they do have dyno for top fuelers... john force owns one if im correct... but they mostly use mathmatical equation to figure out their HP

Correct...Professional teams use engine dynos, chasis dynos, and closed tracks to fully setup / prepare their cars. I don't know how one can tune 300+ whp vehicles on the street without running the risk of losing a license, jail time, etc.

i would prefer a road tune any day of the week...

for example: if you have swapped intakes & you car developed a drivability issue, you wont experience it on the dyno unless it's diabolical, but when al is sitting next to you & YOU feel something, you tell him & he will imediately be able to sort it out, then & there! none of this "oh i had my car dyno-tuned & then on the way home, i felt xyz:

besides, it takes time to review data & that time reviewing is wasted dyno time...unless of course you get a ticket while road tuning
