NO - the through the mail tunes ALl must go through testing on at least 5 seperate evos before we release them and they all are detuned at least 5 - 10 whp

So is it true that even the upgrade fuel pump is increasing the fuel pressure on the fuel line, but the fuel rail will always see the same pressure because we are still using the same fuel pressure regulator? I am thinking about getting the pump too...so I would like to hear what you guys think.

Thx,

Took the words out of my mouth. If the regulator is working right, how can it run richer?

The regulator is a set size orfice - it is not "closed loop" fuel pressure control

Its a small cheap piece that opens and closes a valve according to boost pressure

When the boost pressure rises the hole gets smaller and rises the fuel pressure higher also

When you put a bigger fuel pump on the fuel pressure rises SLIGHTLY higher than the stock pump under high boost long pulls and the car runs slightly richer

Notice - SLIGHTLY richer

Damn! I had to read this entire thread three times in order to understand what's going on...*did I say that out loud?*

Anyhew...ok, Al...in my case - I'm going to hold off until the 20th. I'm gonna baby my evo until then...I'm going to SC this coming Friday (was supposed to 'run' a few folks, but that's out)...my question is this...

Do I go ahead and install the Boost Controller (Hallman Pro RX mbc) this weekend? What effects will this have on my current 'limbo' situation? I'd like to have this mbc installed by the time you grace my Evo with your knowledge and skills...

Go ahead get it in and keep it down at like 19 psi and you'll be fine - just dont beat the heck out of the car - drive easy !

The car will run perfectly fine at cruise and at light throttle. Anything on my car above 3 or 4 psi will cause the air fuel to go full rich. If you have the Walbro, just drive it easy and you will be fine. One good hard run after the car is fuel tuned properly and the plugs should clean up nicely.

Agreed

We have a multi speed fuel pump controller - the pump does not see full voltage on part gas and cruise - ONLY when you get on the boost good thats when it really starts pumping out the fuel

Ok i understand whats goin on here.
My question to AL is when does he see the need for a new pump in the modification process.

For example: BR 3" Full TB + HKS EVC + Flash
Would this setup require a new pump? If no, then what thrown into the mix would dictate the addition of a pump?

Al will definitely recommend a pump with those mods. Actually, he is now recommending the pump with any mods. Do a search and you will see why the stock pump may not provide the proper flow under load conditions.
