How to prep for a dynoflash...

Hey Al...for those that are about to be Dynoflashed...how about putting down some guidlines for preping their car for a dynoflash? Especially when your coming out to places like AMS for a dynoflash day on the 26th.

Like if you have a MBC/EBC...what we should set it at, S-AFC Settings (all zero or removed all together), etc. Was just thinking it would be somewhat of a good idea for the people that don't know much at all. Plus it would help speed things up for you too. Quite possibly making it easier for you to flash more cars in the same day.

Just my 2cnts.

To Prepare:
Eat 2 Bowls of Grape Nuts
Practice Deep Breathing for a half an hour for 2 weeks

Anyhow...
Just drive your car as it is (and make sure you have good gas)... They'll do the MBC and SAFC for you. Don't have alot of loose stuff in your car, when Al takes you for an after test drive...hold on!

I'm not Al but I'm on my way (too many maple cake donuts).

Al has recommended installing a fuel pump (and I'd second that) and it probably makes sense to zero out your S-AFC settings as the DynoFlash replaces an S-AFC functionally. You should only need to tweak the S-AFC if you get more mods but can't get DynoFlashed right away, or if you ever run race gas and can use the S-AFC (along with datalogging tools) to take advantage of it.

As far as your MBC/EBC I'd say you can take care of those details when you get flashed.

Prep:

Don't eat anything for 6 hours before the dynoflash. Take a **** 5 minutes before the flash. Hold the f*ck on to your seat when Al drives.

I have some ideas on what you can do to prep you car for the reflash / tuning

1st and most importantly - MAKE SURE all your mods are properly intalled and functional; remember we are tuning the car and usually do not have the facility to make repairs. Try and make sure everything is operating well before we come. Make sure your boost controller is holding boost, your bov is not leaking, you have no vacume leaks, the spark plugs are not misfiring, the clutch is not slipping, there are no electrical shorts or blown fuses (these are a few of the problems we have seen). Most evos are practically brand new so we do not see a lot of meachanical issues but there do come up from time to time.

2nd - PLEASE make SURE your rear 02 bung is in the factory location - NOT extened out on a tube. Remember we use the rear o2 sesnor bung to insert our motec wide band 02 sesnor. IF you have a "extender pipe" then you need to add a 2nd o2 bung which we can send you in advance and you can have welded onto your exhuast at any local muffler shop. (Mostly some "UR" exhausts have this issue)>

3rd - try to get good gas - many times people travel to where we are going and sometimes they fill up with some miserable gas at "el cheapo" gas stations. I recomend a good national brand gas from a large, newer gas station. The off brands gas ususally is very poor. Din;t buy the gas at COSCO!

4th - dont bring a "crew" loading tha car up with 4 guys really throws off the loading on the tunes - I suggest you come down by yourself

5th - Check your tire pressure, make sure your oil is resonably fresh

6th - I suggest a Walboro fuel pump 255 lph on ALL cars

7th - CALL ME - I have tried almost every possible combination of parts on evos. I know what works and I'll give you free advice on any mods you are considering. I am usually avaialable and WILL return your car. If you have anu questions about what works or what to do I am here to help.

8th - if you have a SAFC leave it set the way it normally is - I'll change it to zero when we start. If you have any other piggy back that requires a ecu to tune, bring your ecu with you and set everything to zero right before we start.

Finally - get ready to relax and enjoy the tuning process. You can see exactly what is going on with your car and exactly what we are doing. Its a good chance to learn a bit on how tuning is done and how the car feels and sounds with various changes we are making. We don't keep any mysterious secrets from our customers, you'll see exactly what we are doing and what your getting.

Al...that's awesome!!! Exactly what I was looking for you to post. Just a suggestion....maybe make that exact post (spelling check too! just bustin your ***** bro!) and make it a sticky in your Dynoflash forum...have a mod close it so it's like the only post....or you could always leave it open for people to ask random questions....

Honestly I think it's good reference material for the people coming for a flash and would help them and you out greatly!!!

See ya on the 26th!!!

Thank you Grod101! I appreciate that very much. Some people just don't see the point of a good reference post for those that don't know what's going on or needs to be done prior to someone working on their car.
